This wood pellet stove is the single best investment we have made to our home! My wife and I LOVE it!!! It cut our 2015 winter heating bills in half (including the cost of pellets to run the stove), and the heat and ambiance of the stove is the joy of our chilly early spring, late fall or frigid winters. I totally mean every word of that statement. It is so nice waking up to the warmth and glow of the stove on cold mornings, or huddling in front of the warm blast of air on cold evenings after coming in from outside. We placed the stove in our dining room which is central to our first floor which is about 1200 sq ft. We decided that the dining room would prevent us from being cooked out of our living room if the stove was too hot. This is our first pellet stove and we thought we'd try it due to the low cost of the stove, and ease of bagged pellets over dirty coal or firewood. Both my wife and I grew up around coal and wood stoves and we were afraid it would be super hot within close proximity like a coal stove. However, I can tell you that it is very different and you can install it wherever you intend to enjoy it the most. We sort of wished we would have placed it in the living room so that we could watch the fire glow, but the dancing reflections off in the dining room is also enjoyable. No regrets in our location decision, but don't be afraid to put it where you want it. It will not burn super hot like a coal or wood stove, but instead will radiate a nice even heat throughout a larger area. The heated air is deflected downward and fanned out a little the the left and right of the front of the stove. It mixes well with the cool air from down low with no excessive concentration of super hot air in just one area. You can be assured it is a nice even distribution of warm airflow. Last year we ran the stove through the entire fall, winter and early spring with no issues. The stove is quite flexible with several options for how to run it. However, we found that leaving it on manual settings for us was just easier. If it was cold enough overnight to run the stove we generally set it to lowest or second lowest out of five speeds and went to bed. In the morning, the first to rise would adjust the stove setting to warm the house up as desired depending on how cold it was going to be. I'm probably making this out to be more complicated than sounds, but it just wasn't an issue. I will say, however, that the thermostat function was our least favorite. It just isn't quite tuned the way it could be. We used the timing functions for a little while, but we prefer the stove run in low during the night for a more evenly heated home. We got accustomed to just putting the stove on low when we were sleeping or not at home, and then when we came home we'd adjust to our preference. We NEVER ran the stove at the highest setting, even on the coldest days and nights because I am convinced the heat to consumption ratio goes in the negative direction. On the coldest days, we ran it at 4 or 5 or 3 of 5.

I installed the stove myself after building a nice slate hearth and brick back. It turned out very nice. The installation was fairly straightforward. I do have combustion set up experience which was very helpful with adjusting the ratio of air to fuel. The manual is not very helpful so let me share my experience: Our stove was shipped with the air inlet port damper open to about 80% of the hole opening. I will tell you this is WAY too much air for 1/4" or 5/16" dia pellets. It just blows out too much heated air from the combustion chamber, pellets from the burn pot after they have burned partially and have become lighter in weight, and too much burning embers out of the stack. This is true even if you adjust the exhaust blower voltage to its lowest setting. It is just too much air and will totally eat through pellets with very little return compared to adjusting it.
So, we live at an altitude of about 450ft ASL and I set my damper to about 30% open. Sounds crazy right! I can promise you it is optimal though. The heat output is optimal for consumption, and we are not losing heat and excess ash out flue stack. The fire is also much more attractive with a consistent yellow glow as opposed to a small torch effect that we started out with. It also seems to make the inside of the stove much cleaner between cleanings and requires fewer glass cleanings. It is important to keep the glass clean because the radiant heat of the flames adds tremendously to the output of heat into your home. In addition, I adjusted the exhaust blower (combustion air) settings as follows: 1-80v, 2-80v, 3-85v, 4-90v, 5-95v. With the damper port closed off 60-70%, these settings work best for us at 450ft altitude. The blower voltage (forced heated air) is not that important, but I wouldn't set it on the lowest setting. The lowest setting will allow the stove sides to get too hot and will not circulate as much hot air as possible. We just use 95 volts for all 5 combustion settings. This allows good airflow and reduced noise.

If I had to make one complaint about the stove, it would be the noise of the blowers. It is just a little too noisy for our liking, but we quickly got used to it. For folks without any combustion set up experience, I think the manufacturer could have made it easier to adjust the damper also. There are some guys on the net that modified their damper so that they can adjust it on the fly by attaching a rod to the flap. That should be included from the manufacturer, in my opinion along with some basic set up advice for optimal output. I understand why they didn't, but some advice would still be helpful for people to get them most out of their stoves.

Anyway, I do highly recommend this stove. It is not the heaviest built stove, but it seems to be adequate. We ran it non stop for a year and have had no issues yet. We love its simple appearance. We love the heat output. We love the large attractive viewing glass that gives us lots of glow and warmth. With some circulation fans, we can keep our 1900 square foot house nice and toasty on the coldest of days, and we can also keep it comfortable on just mildly chilly evenings. It is very versatile with heat output.

Comments about Castle Stoves Serenity 1,500 Sq Ft Wood Pellet Stove (12327):

We have now owned this stove for a year and are extremely pleased with it. I can honestly say that last winter was the most comfortable one we have ever spent. We have had no problems with it at all and I would buy this stove again in a heartbeat.

We live in a 1440 sqft 1974 mobile that has been partly, but not completely, dry walled. It takes awhile for the heat to get to the back of the house, but it does get back there. The entire front of the house - living room, kitchen, front room - heats quickly and stays wonderfully warm. I do have to crank it up to 4 or 5 if the temp drops below 35, but that's probably because we haven't yet replaced the single pane windows. Of all the things I like, the true heat from the pellets (as compared to "warm air" electric heat) tops the list. It really feels wonderful.
Cons: the timer setting is confusing and a pain, and I wish you didn't have to hold down the little press button when you refill the hopper to keep the dispenser going. I accidentally let the flame go out twice early on, before I learned to press the switch. But that's all I can think of for cons. It installed easily, too.
So, yes, we love the stove! Here's hoping for a perfect winter :)

Shopped around looking at all the features of the mid to high priced stoves and this one beat them all. Had this stove since November of 2014 and haven't had a problem. Love the fact that I can burn this stove a week before cleaning out the ash pan and that's burning it 24/7. Can go two weeks before cleaning out the outlet pipe for ash. Will shut the stove down every couple of days to clean glass and firepot.

Reduced our propane useage 75% last year (2014/15 heat season) and the house was MUCH warmer

Ash bin is a bit small as is the hopper but those are tradeoffs for the money I think.

I researched many customer reviews before deciding to buy this stove and so far it has not let me down.I installed it in late February when winter heating bills were sky high and i noticed the savings right from the start.I have it direct vented through the wall and live in a high wind area so i did have to use the outside air kit or it would puff back smoke . But after i installed that no problems .I do like this stove and would recommend it

I use this stove to heat a 12x60 mobile home. It's been installed since November and I've run it on the lowest manual setting all through this winter and it has provided ample heat while using one bag of pellets a day. I've fed it every kind you can buy and it doesn't care. I may have to clean it more often using big box store pellets, but that's a small price to pay.
If you're on a budget and looking for a good stove, you won't go wrong buying this one!

Comments about Castle Stoves Serenity 1,500 Sq Ft Wood Pellet Stove (12327):

This little unit amply heats my ranch home of 1,100 square feet; this is only day three of operation and thus far the stove is exceeding all my expectations. Feels solidly built, the fan is quiet and does it throw heat.

I live in NH, at current the outside temperature is 18 degrees, the internal temperature of my home, in an area furthest from the stove is 72 degrees, with the stove on it's lowest setting and burning all hardwood pellets (lower BTU output).

I did a lot of research before buying a pellet stove and firmly believe this stove gives the "biggest bang for the buck"; with features that generally cost a thousand dollars more. Suffice to say I couldn't be happier with this purchase!

Comments about Castle Stoves Serenity 1,500 Sq Ft Wood Pellet Stove (12327):

I have been wanting to replace an old Whitfield pellet stove in my mountain home, but spending 3 to 4,000 dollars wasn't possible. Even the cheapest was a minimum of $2500. I found this one by accident; I couldn't believe there were no seriously negative responses and the price was well within my budget, especially when it went on sale.

Light enough for me to move and install by myself, simple in design and attractive. I've had it going for 2 weeks now and have tested all the features and it works just as promised.

so far the only cons: The manual is well put together but could use a bigger text size. also, there were a few points not clarified such as; in the manual model does the stove run only by heat setting or will it shut itself down (it only auto shuts off in the weekly mode)?

These points are minor and easily compensated for. the only reason I did not give it a 5 star rating is needing to see it run for several months; I will come back and review again after that.

This stove heats our 2000sq foot home just fine even when the temps are in the 20s, does require frequent cleanings to run best which only takes a few minutes.

Bought this stove as additional heat source to augment a large wood burning stove in our house. The wood stove will not keep up with needs on colder nights (<0). This stove fits the bill very well. With just one week on it family members are ready to purchase for themselves...

Very easy to install. It replaced a stove that I had for about 6 years that the control panel went bad. Ordered from Ace on a Sunday evening picked up at my local Ace on Wednesday. Had it working on Wed evening. Still learning about all the features. Great stove at a great price.

Comments about Castle Stoves Serenity 1,500 Sq Ft Wood Pellet Stove (12327):

Bought the stove to reduce heating oil consumption. This is a great stove, but there were several issues I discovered when I installed it: 1)I removed side panel to secure vent pipe to exhaust and noticed connector between the wiring harness and ignitor had not been plugged together, or loosely plugged and came apart in shipping. Plugged connector and no issues there; 2) testing components in diagnostic mode as manual suggests, heard a loud fluttering sound when the heat circulation fan turned on. Found a wire rubbing on the spinning fan cage, again probably a result of shipping, but potential for major failure and shock hazard. A small zip-tie secured wire away from fan; 3) After 2 days of operation, pellet feed auger stopped working. Found wires in connector were loose, secured and taped wires in connector, auger now works as normal.

Once all these minor issues were resolved, stove has been running great. Only other issue is, if you arent careful when refilling, a stray pellet can keep the pellet hopper lid from closing completely. The auger wont run unless lid is completely closed, and stove will go out. Make sure closed lid indicator shows on screen when you refill pellets.

There are lots of good features about the stove- its attractive, well made (except wiring connections!), easy to operate, and the manual is well written. Really pumps out the heat, at the lowest setting it keeps the downstairs of my 4000 sqft farm house quite warm when its in the 20's outside. It is less expensive than many similar stoves, I think its a great value. My only reservation is, while I did not have great difficulty resolving the small problems with the stove, I am not sure that someone less technically inclined could do so, and might find themselves frustrated or incur some repair service expense.

All things considered, I would buy it again.

Comments about Castle Stoves Serenity 1,500 Sq Ft Wood Pellet Stove (12327):

We use this stove to heat our split-entry 2000' home (minus two downstairs bedrooms which we don't use in the winter and close off). After you get the hang of adjusting the settings to suit your use, the stove is relatively easy to operate. I suggest you thoroughly read the instruction book and experiment somewhat with the settings which will deliver the level of heat needed.
The only thing that has been a slight problem for us is that in order to hold an entire 40# bag of pellets, the hopper must be pretty much completely empty, so if you want to "top it off" before you go somewhere, you have to store the excess pellets in the bag or other container.
Overall, we are very happy with this stove, and like it much better than the Englander which we replaced with this one.

Comments about Castle Stoves Serenity 1,500 Sq Ft Wood Pellet Stove (12327):

We bought this stove to help offset fuel costs of our oil furnace hot water heating system. The relatively small Serenity quickly heats a 20' by 40' room with a cathedral ceiling and four skylights. We first saw the Serenity in a local wood stove store, and were impressed with how much heat it produced. Also its programmable features. But the stove there was priced at $1,400. I discovered that same stove for much less on the Ace website (I even was able to apply an additional sale coupon code) and it was shipped to our local store. Installing it myself was fairly easy but though the manual is well written, there were still some parts I had trouble following. Customer service representatives helped me over the phone. They were great. The stove is attractive, designed well, and solidly built. My wife and I are very happy with how it operates.

They should put some kind of handle on air damper handle so you don't have to take the side of the stove off to adjust it. I had the stove a week and a half and when I turned it off it still kept feeding pellets, tried a new control head did not work presently waiting on a new stove, so be cautious when buying.

just purchased, limited use as of yet. Even so went thru and fired up the stove, a sturdy, well built, quiet!, very well thought out design and works as it should. Has a great controller with many power options, a good manual and a remote control all at a very reasonable price. Pumps out a lot of heat for its size and is comparitvely quiet! Very pleased. Would definitely recommend.

I replaced a older Englander stove with a Serenity and I just love this little stove, It heats my 1275sq.ft. house to 72 deg. with outside temp. of 4 deg. on heat setting 1.The stove is very easy to clean. Before buying the stove I called and spoke with Ardisam and was very impressed with their customer service. Compared to other companies the replacement parts are very reasonable price wise.

This is a very nice little stove that really kicks out the heat.
The controls are much better than what I saw on US Stove.
Very stylish and compact, fits nicely with decor.
Couple of areas that could be improved:
                                      1. Hopper size is a little too small.. when it runs out, a full bag will not always fit.
                                      2. Controls allow thermostat control, but it doesnt actually turn the stove off, it just throttles back to lowest setting. The lowest setting keeps my entire finished basement at 75% on the coldest days! Would be nice if it went to completely off when desired heat is reached.

This stove replaced another older Castle stove. The area I used these in is a small cabin approx 800 sq.foot and many pellet stoves will be way overkill. Most stoves do not have the ability to lower the feed rate and blower speeds causing temperatures to be much to high on their lowest setting.I did not look at many other brands but did contact the company for a part for my old stove and discussed the new one with them. The Ardisam company is top notch and you speak with friendly smart people that know their parts and products first hand.I was just up to the cabin and I've run the Serenity for a week now in a range of 8-31f degrees and couldn't be more pleased. As for Ace,called first day and they had it shpped in the next day, wow!
