Recently, I got tired of messing with the gasoline and oil, pull cord, etc. of my admittedly trusty, almost ten year-old Sears 6.0 HP Craftsman mower. So I went online and researched several models before settling on the EarthWise 20" 24 volt cordless rechargeable.
Set up was instantaneous, no assembly required, and the battery arrived fully charged. I mowed both my front and back lawn with plenty of battery juice to spare. While there is no power to the wheels, the mower weighs sufficiently less (at around 90 lbs.) to be able to maneuver it with ease. In cutting and mulching, it is actually superior to my old Sears. In terms of noise, it is still pretty loud, but sounds more like a huge blow dryer rather than an engine. And - BIG plus - absolutely no noxious fumes! It never heats up like a gas-powered engine either, and one of the great things is that you can turn it off completely, maneuver it around obstacles, and simply turn it back on electronically - without yanking cords!
Needless to say, I am truly happy with this mower and I highly recommend it. I will NEVER go back to gas-powered!

I love cordless mowers and have a 50 x 150 yard which is a perfect application. I used a Black and Decker without fail for over 10 years. When the time finally came to replace it, I tried the Earthwise. The grips tore up almost immediately from moderate use (mowing once a week year round). I also noticed that this machine just does not feel as solidly constructed in the handles. Today, just over a year later, my Earthwise is dead. The battery won't hold a charge. I am online now to purchase a Black and Decker. Go cordless rechargeable - They are great. But, look at another manufacturer.

Comments about American Lawn Mower(r) Earthwise(r) Cordless Electric Mower (60220):
This is the third year I have owned the Eartwise. I purchased a replacement battery after the first season as it would not hold a charge. The second year I swore I would not pay for another. After 12 calls speaking to many different people at Earthwise, I got yet another battery, this time for no charge. This year I mowed the lawn for 20 minutes and the battery lost its charge. That's three years and three batteries. I followed the instructions to a tee on charging and storage all for nothing.
Do not buy this mower unless your lawn can be mowed in less than 15 minutes.

Comments about American Lawn Mower(r) Earthwise(r) Cordless Electric Mower (60220):
I live in a house with a small lawn (about .1 acres) and I bought this mower because it was cordless and didn't want to bother with storage of gasoline for a mower. I followed the instructions and have charged the battery only when the light it is indicating red. During the winter I leave the mower alone and will recharge the battery ocacassionally. I've owned this mower for about 3 years now and haven't had many issues with it. The battery still holds a good charge (I mow about once a week from March to about October), and it runs well.
Some issues I have with the mower is that the handle grips did get torn up within the first few months I owned it, but it's no big deal. The battery is HEAVY! My wife is small (about 5'2") and she has trouble pushing this mower. You do need to slow down going over thick clumps of grass, and sometimes the deck can get clogged with grass. If it's dry out then using the bag attachment isn't a problem. I usually leave the mower to mulch the grass for me and it does well.
Pros:
-Charge holds, even after 3 years
-Runs well with little maintenance
-The attachments are nice
-Great for small yards
-Mows the yard multiple times on one charge
Cons:
-Battery is heavy
-Mower can get clogged if mowing lots of thick grass
-Grip is easily torn

Cons

Comments about American Lawn Mower(r) Earthwise(r) Cordless Electric Mower (60220):
Asother reviewers have stated, this mower is fantastic ... for the first year. Started up and ran great, quiet, no exhaust. Stored the battery in the house for the winter per the manual, charged it for the full amount of time and it only holds the charge now for about two minutes. Furtehr attempts at recharging yield the same results. Very unhappy with this manufacturer and the company web site is hard to navigate and contains little information other than a tollfree number. Consider Black & Decker cordless instead of this one.

This lawn mower was fantastic for the first several months. It was clean, quiet and used no gas. The honeymoon was over half-way through the first season. The handle broke off, the grips shredded and the battery wouldn't hold a charge for more than a few minutes.

Comments about American Lawn Mower(r) Earthwise(r) Cordless Electric Mower (60220):
This lawn mower does the job and does it well! I was impressed by how long the battery last. I last charged it in October last year, I cranked it up and did the front, back and side of my home off last years charge. This was on mulch and not bagged. My only gripe about it is the poor build quality of the handle and push lever. The gripping comes off after 1 season of mowing and my plastic lever to turn it on broke off. If I fix it, I will just duck tape it to the side and use the key to turn it off and on.

Battery didn't last long at all. One season. And to replace it is a pain. Careful... make sure you get the newer model; they have an easier battery to replace. With ours, you had to unscrew at places where they were hard to get to, and HE MAN must have put them on since they were so tight. Ended up having to bust open the case to get to the battery. Think before you buy.

Bought the mower this summer. It is much quieter than a gas mower, seems to mow just as well. The light panel on the back lets me know when it needs to be charged. For my relatively small lawn it does the job. And I can be glad I'm not putting out fumes while I mow.

I initially owned a TrackForce electric lawn mower and found it difficult to maneuver with the cord. The handle broke after 10 uses so I purchased this battery operated mower. I have used it only once, but the lawn was long and the mower did an excellent job cutting through the long grass. I charged the battery overnight and it was ready to go in the morning. Great lawn mower, granted I have only used it once. I do keep the battery inside because it is way too hot in the garage and the manuel recommends keeping the battery in a cool place. Looking forward to long use of this mower. Will update if things change.

Comments about American Lawn Mower(r) Earthwise(r) Cordless Electric Mower (60220):
I got the weed eater first. At Ace of course. I loved it and thought how cool it would be to have a mower that was cordless and electic. I always had gas mowers but thought electric would be nice because of the noise level and the lack of a need for gas.
I read all the reviews and checked on the consumer ratings sites to see which mower would be best for my application. I have a small grass area (probably around 800 square feet). Some is on a slight slope. The review that states this mower is not for sloped yards was my largest hesitation. My slope is around 2% and I have a bad knee. Other than that, all the applications and reviews fit my situation.
I went ahead and got the mower (display model so it did not need assembly) and brought it home. It worked great! The flat area was a breeze and the slope was the same as when I pushed the old gas mower up so no problem there. I did not gain anything but again, did not loose anything either.
I checked with the "Helpful Hardware Woman" and there is a battery available for replacement at about $100. That is $50 less than the Toro I was comparing it with.
I made sure if it had problems "out of the box" they would trade it for another mower so the guy who only gave this mower one star, probably got a lemon. It happens, and you just have to make sure your store won't make you go to the manufacturer which opens a can of worms.
I have only used this once so I don't know what lies ahead, but if first impressions count, this is one fantastic mower.
On the negative side I guess the catcher is a bit small, but it gives me a break and it is so easy to start, it really is not a problem. I am sure if I let my grass get too tall, it would bog down, but I mow once a week and the grass is not very thick at that point. My assumption is if you use this mower as per it's parameters you will be happy with it's performance

Comments about American Lawn Mower(r) Earthwise(r) Cordless Electric Mower (60220):
I bought my first home this past winter. I was really dreading the lawn mowing chore. I did not want to deal with gasoline and pull starting a mower. My local ACE did not have this in stock, but ordered it for me. The battery takes a long time to charge, so the next weekend I tried it out. I like the way it starts up very easily and the battery indicator is easy to see and understand. I was able to mow my entire lawn on one charge, it took about 2 hours. The battery strains more with a high lawn on a low to the ground setting. I like that it is quieter than gas mowers. It was a little difficult pushing up on inclines and my property not level in a lot of places. The instruction manual is ok, it could be clearer. I wanted more information about how to remove the battery from the unit to recharge it (something I will need to do in the winter). Overall, I think this is a great machine and would definitely recommend it to others.

Comments about American Lawn Mower(r) Earthwise(r) Cordless Electric Mower (60220):
Been pushing power mowers for 50 years. First electric mower owned and I couldn't be happier with this product after 2 months of use. (Can't believe that a mower starts without cursing it)! Battery life is very good (more than an hour) and seemed to improve after several uses. A little noisier (and heavier) than expected but a major improvement over gas-powered versions; sounds a bit like a vacuum cleaner. Easy height adjustment is a real asset. Recommend that you follow mfr. charging directions until you are comfortable with your mower's performance.

I knew when I needed a lawn mower I wanted a cordless one and I just happened to come across this one in the store. I thought I'd give it a shot and I have been extremely happy ever since. I'm able to cut my entire yard (maybe 1/4 acre) on one charge. It'll actually keep going for close to 2 hours. It cuts perfectly, mulches great and it's quiet enough I can listen to my ipod while I'm mowing. :) It really couldn't be any simpler. I would definitely recommend this to anyone looking.

Comments about American Lawn Mower(r) Earthwise(r) Cordless Electric Mower (60220):
No need to pull start - so it starts every time! It pushes pretty fair, a little hard going up a steep hill we have, but all in all decent. Battery lasts as long as I need it to, approx 20 min on our lawn. It's not real good at going through tall grass or weeds, but that's not what we bought it for. Relatively quiet and really easy to adjust settings. After one summer of use, we're really happy with the purchase.

Comments about American Lawn Mower(r) Earthwise(r) Cordless Electric Mower (60220):
I mowed lawns since 6th grade and I wish I'd had this mower! I only started using these mowers this summer but my neighbors & friends just keep asking me about it. I order another one when my spare gets sold, then show it off until someone buys it which isn't long. [...]The only improvement I make is to raise the rubber rear flap so it doesn't hit the blade when pulling the mower backwards. It's just a matter of removing two screws, drilling higher holes in the mower and re-mounting the flap about 1" higher. The smart charger works great, as verified by using a killawatt meter to measure power usage while charging. Since it is very important to not overcharge batteries, this is a crucial function of the charger.I mow in-town 1/4 acre yards and can easily mow 3-4 of them on a single charge as long as the grass is not any longer than it a week's worth of growth in the summer (Montana). I charge up the mower after every use though, to keep the batteries fed and happy - NEVER leave a battery dishcarged longer than possible. Not to mention the lack of gasoline in the garage, or the lack of stink while mowing, or the extra noise that the neighborhood misses out on. These mowers are a no-brainer!

Comments about American Lawn Mower(r) Earthwise(r) Cordless Electric Mower (60220):
I just used this mower for the first time last night. It worked just as I expected after reading the other reviews. It had some slight hesitation in the longer/thicker patches of the yard. I have an area about 1500 square feet that I sodded just 2 weeks ago and this mower will be way more than enough for that area. It took me about 15 minutes to mow and the charge on the battery was still reading "full" when I finished. I bagged the grass last night, so I am not sure how the mulching works, but the bagger works great. I did not see any grass left behind. I have always used gas mowers in the past, but I think I am now convinced to go electric/battery. The only issue I forsee having is the availability of replacement parts in the future.

I really like how the mower works and how it mows. But the second time I tried to charge it, it would not take a charge. I'm a physicist/electrical engineer/mechanical engineer. I work at a synchrotron at a national laboratory, have a real good gut sense of what is possible and what is not, what the state of the art is in many fields,... This machine knocked my socks off. My lawn was waaay overdue for mowing. And it's fairly big - front yard is ~40x100, side yards are each ~15x30, and rear is ~30x120. It was a bit wet this morning, grass was plenty tall, first time using this mower and I figured it would take 2 or 3 charges to do the whole thing. I was amazed. It did the job on the first charge, still had plenty of zap when I was done. The guys that designed this thing rock. They did a great job. I am so happy to have this machine. Thank you.

I bought this mower a month ago and am VERY impressed with it. The mower weight had me a little nervous but it is easy to push and you don't notice the increased weight. Charging and starting is a snap. The battery seems to keep it's charge for about 1 hour which is exactly what I need to mow a double-lot yard. The switch from mulch to bag is easy and both seem to work well. Count me a satisfied customer.

I was concerned about how long the battery could last, but, after the first use, I am pleasantly surprised. It cuts and mulches great (didn't need to use grass catcher). I can do almost my entire large lawn (around 15,000 sq ft) on one charge (around 3 inches high). I open both openings so that discharged grass don't accumulate in narrow bands on the side.

My gas mower was one banana peel away from visiting the happy hunting grounds, so I decided to go electric. I could not have chosen a better mower. No pollution, no gas, no pulling a cord, and no freakout over putting it together. It cuts great and the battery lasts far longer than the 45 minutes it takes me to mow my lawn. I love being able to mow the lawn and not smell like a gas can. I recharge after every mowing, usually overnight, and I store it in the shed. Cool!

Comments about American Lawn Mower(r) Earthwise(r) Cordless Electric Mower (60220):
I am 71 year old woman with small lawn which only takes about 25 minutes to mow. I can charge this mower in 4 hours as directed and that mows my lawn 3 times and more. I find the indicator light for battery charge a little hard to see, but you can tell when the battery is getting low by sound of engine. It cuts evenly. It is just a little heavy to push for me, but I can do it fine. Most healthy adults would love it.
I especially like the grass catcher which allows me to cut close to things along the side compared to my side discharge older mower, the ease of emptying the grass catcher, and overall the ease of never dealing with a cord again!
