Comments about Lutron® Lamp Dimmer (LC-300NLH-WH):
This dimmer can be installed anywhere along the lamp cord -- close to the lamp, in between, or close to the wall socket. You simply cut the cord where you want to place the "in-line" dimmer. One end of the cord goes in the top of the dimmer and the other in the bottom -- wires don't have to be "stripped," just put the cord in the hole and push a button to lock it in place -- a child could do it!!! [...]Instead of a harsh, too-bright light, this dimmer can lower the intensity of the light and change the atmosphere in the room. We love it.
