Product worked great as a timer. turned the water on and off as set. Would have liked to be able to have it not water late at night. The manual on seems to shut itself off after some unknown unsetable time period. So manual watering is very frustrating. For price it seems pretty functional.

Love this timer, I've had one 3 yrs, second one 2 yrs, and am buying 2 more today to bring to 4 I am now using. So simple to program and set up. I love keeping it simple.

I like the basic design and it was easy to program but it only lasted a couple of months and then developed a major leak. Thinking that I got lemon I decided to try again and bought another. The same thing happened again! Of course I didn't save the receipt. I don't recommend this for sure.

The electronics are still working but the valve won't open any more. Looks good from the outside but this is not a unit for dependability. Mine was installed in florida in an air conditioned equipment room where it was protected from sun and moisture and humidity. It still looks perfectly good from the outside....probably a plastic part failed.

We've used many products over the years - never very satisfied - until Ace. We previously had a different Ace product that was very reliable and dependable that they stopped selling - so we bought this one. What a pleasure. The display is easy to read, easy to understand, easy to program (I don't have to keep a manual around). We ended up buying about ten of them and are using them throughout our property. They don't leak in our experience - perhaps because we install them with care. The display doesn't lose elements over time as other non-Ace products have done (making them unreadable and unuseable). We've had them installed for a year now and no problems.

This was another waste of money. Half of the time it wouldn't shut off when it was supposed to, then after 4 months it blew something out inside and water poured out from inside of it for hours before I discovered it. Save your money and get a different one.

I love this product for the design.
It is solid state which is a great.
It has a sleep mode to prolong battery life which great.
Simple to use instant readout of the program in use.
9 volt battery powered is a great feature.
I just started using this timer and am not aware of any leaks.Where does it supposedly leak?
I rate it very highly because it is designed better than any other timer for the price!
I like it so well that I made a visor for it to keep the sun off of it. (Arizona sun eats up plastics over time no matter how well they are made.)

Bought two timers, but the instructions are not comprehensible. Frequency of watering uses some internal codes they don't bother to tell you. After three days of not getting the timers to work, we returned them. One also leaked inside the box so that the electronics shorted out. DON'T BUY!

I used another brand of timer, the same one for over 5 years until I left it out and it froze. Never had a problem. This one does nothing but water. I would return it if I could find the receipt.

I agree with other reviews. This product is not well made. While disassembled and housed indoors for the winter, mine lasted only one watering season. The electronics totally failed when when reinstalled in spring.

I bought this product to water my vegetable garden. It lasted about 4 months and now the electronics have gone haywire and it leaks from the screw holes in the bottom. I cannot recommend this product.

I bought this the day my sod got put in our backyard. I needed something to water the yard every morning and with our schedule, we'd either forget to turn it on, or forget to turn it off. I did not want to spend [$] for something that looked like a cheap kitchen timer, but needed the convenience. I installed it Tuesday afternoon and everything seemed to be working fine. I called my wife on Thursday to make sure it was on and sure enough, it was doing the job. Friday I go out to do a little watering before bed and am unable to press the manual on/off button. I try all of the buttons and can't press any of them. I noticed what looked like rusty water marks leaking at the battery compartment (remember, this is now only the 3rd day in use). When I started unscrewing the screws for the battery compartment water started squirting out with tremendous pressure. No wonder I wasn't able to press the buttons - it had filled itself so tight with water, the buttons couldn't budge. This thing is completely shot now. If you're reading this - the other recent reviews are all correct. This Ace product DEFINITELY is cheaply made. Although, if you want a [$] door stop, this is what you're looking for.

I don't know if it's the relentless Texas sun or poor design or cheap parts, but I have six of these timers and I have had to replace three of them. Eventually the electronics goes haywire (I suspect leaks eventually develop in the battery compartment or the timer itself...or the circuitry just fries in the Texas heat).

Bottom line: while easy to program, these little gizmos generally fail within a year or so. Ace should be willing to warranty timers. Might see some improvement in the quality then.

I had hope for this model after a recent success (2 years) with another Ace badged model of circular shape (probably a Nelson). However, after less than 30 days of use it Broke internally, filled with water and shorted itself out, due to poor design and isolation of the valves from the electrical... duh.
I believe that these cannot be used in winter due to heating and cooling of the plastic parts inside which makes them brittle/shrink when cold, etc. That is my theory, anyway. When the unit opened the valve (when it worked ok) you can hear a good slapp sound, but when it broke and filled with h2o, it made a final, crack type sound. I think the issue is with its design and inability to take standard household pressure. Avoid this one and try one of the Orbit models. BTW, If you get one full year of good use out of any of these electronic timers, you have done well. There are boutique caliber options out there but are pricy... Only buy a timer with a good duration Warranty and return to store ability :)

This is a much better item then the Orbit item; it may be a bit more to spend but well worth the accuracy and reliability of the start and stop function.
Not sure why it is labeled "wireless" but perhaps an unactivated feature set.
Good stuff.
