Comments about ADAMS MFG Adams® Deck and Eaves Clips:
I use this product to string XMas lights on a deck railing. Once on the railing and the lights installed, they hold tight and do a good job. They are very easy to mount if you do it before it gets too cold. If it's too cold, the clips become quite stiff which makes mounting them on the railing and then sliding the wire into the holder rather challenging. Then again, it is usually in the teens or lower twenties by the time I get around to putting up Xmas lights so that might not be an issue for most folks.
The one really unfortunate thing is that they have little nubs on each curly end. They help keep them on the railing I'm sure, but at least in my case, the nubs left a mark. My railing is painted, but the little gouge goes through the paint into the wood. That said, it's not so bad that I would never use them again. Though if you want to keep a pristine railing, don't use this product. Next year I think I'll try the Adams Banister & Railing clip. I don't think they'll mar the railing, but they are made from a different kind of (clear) plastic which might be brittle in the cold. Nothing ventured, nothing gained.
I would recommend this product, with caveats.
