Comments about Dewalt® Mid-Handle Drill (DWD215G):
I have used this drill with 1/8" standard and 1/2" wood drill bits without a problem. I have used it with a liquid mixer. 1/2" drill bits will not be a problem. It has plenty of power. the variable-speed trigger is touchy. For mixing with little resistance, I usually had to cycle on and off to keep the speed slow but sometimes I would reach a suitable continuous slow speed. For drilling the speed adjustment was fine.
The adjustable front handle is easy to use and position and helps with overhead work. It can be easily removed for tight work. The mid-positioned handle is well balanced and makes the drill suitable for use with small drills and intricate work. It is about 1-pound heavier than a similar 3/8" corded drill but probably weighs about the same as a 3/8" battery run drill. Weight is not a problem. That's why I opted for the 1/2" even though a 3/8" drill would handle 95% of my projects.
The chuckless feature is terrific. My battery run drills had it but not my corded drills. This chuck is superior to the ones on my battery run drills. It feels solid. Just be careful not to hit the trigger while tightening. It hasn't been a problem when I inadvertently hit it but it does keeps one alert. I have not experienced any slip, which has happened with battery run drills.
I opted for the corded drill because my 3/8" battery run drills were never charged when I needed them and then lost charge too frequently. And they were not designed for heavy duty use. This drill doesn't have the stall/over-torque feature which might be handy. I haven't stalled it yet.
The drill is Tradesman quality.
