The problem described with other ratings listed is not the mower it is the ethenol in the gasoline sold. The ethenol eats up the diaphram under the carb on top of the gas tank that pulses the gas to the carb. If you use a quality gasoline stabalizer like Stabil or sea foam you will have no problems. The diaphram cots about $6 and takes two screws to take off to replace. The mower is fine

My dad bought me this mower at the beginning of summer. I used it about 3 or 4 times, and it decided to quit working. It only starts for a minute (running off of the fuel from priming it) and then dies. It is a waste of money and has wasted my time.

I bought a townhouse with a small yard so I bought a reel mower only to find out it didn't cut the grass low enough.
So I went out and bought the Poulan mower, figured hey it's a good price, my yard is small. I only got to use my mower for total of about 30 minutes (that was about 3 uses). I called Ace Hardware where I purchased the mower, they said bring it in and they'd look at it. The guy told me that my gas was bad, I told him that was impossible but I just bought gas 2 days before.
After he put "fresh gas" in my mower, it worked for about another 10 minute job. I went to use it again a few days later and low and behold it wouldn't start. After telling my dad about the "bad" gas, he told me to buy some Stabil, I added that to my fresh gas as instructed on the bottle and still nothing.
Taking it in to get it fixed is double what I paid for the mower in the first place, if I had that kind of money I'd just go buy a new one

about the 4th use it started smoking i checked oil every time i put gas in. the 5th use it died. kept cleaning underneath the machine while i used wouldnt cut thick grass easily just thin grass at the cheap price i thought it would be o.k. if i got 1 yrs use out of it didnt even get 1 season

This lawnmower only lasted 3 weeks. It cut the grass good the first few times, then it started to fail. It took over 10 pulls to start it, and when it did, it would run for a couple of minutes and then shut off. I tried to return it, but the store does not give full refunds on lawnmowers. I bought this at the Ace Hardware [@] Do NOT buy this lawnmower!

I bought this mower last May and it was okay for a few months but it didn't last. Same thing happened as previous reviewer. It starts up after priming and then runs five seconds and dies. You can try time after time and it is always the same - it won't run. The last mower I had lasted 7 years with no problems. I would not recommend this mower. I am very upset - now I have to buy another one because to fix it would cost the same as getting a new one.
