I was hesitant about buying this product after reading the reviews here and elsewhere. But, I needed something that would dry fast before a neighborhood party the next day and this product dries fast compared to other sealing products.
I applied it as recommended with a roller. It took three tubs for a 900 sq. ft. driveway that was 9 years old and had never been sealed. I did use their patching product on a few areas that were dented or cracking. I've sealed other driveways with the tar-based product and I'd say this one takes three to four times as long to apply. That, and the higher cost, are the only drawbacks. The end result is very nice. Three weeks later it still looks great, no fading and no peeling. We'll see how it looks after a Minnesota winter, but so far, so good.

I have sealed my driveway many times before with great results lasting a year or two with traditional sealers. I opted to try this product that apears to be as thin as water at first glance. I followed the directions to a T and even let it cure for two days after I completed. The product a week later is already pealing up and looks very poor compaired to lesser priced products. DO NOT USE!

Comments about RUST-OLEUM CORP Rust-Oleum® Epoxy Shield Blacktop Coating (247471):
when using any driveway sealer u should let it sit outside for about 4 to 5 hours on a hot day or until its good and warm before coating and it only takes a thin coat on the driveway. Its easy to put it on to thick. So just remember it will cover 600-800sqft it has alot of times for me but just always apply a nice thin coat and only use in warm weather when it gets cool just wait til next year. It will cover good and work good and should last the full 10yrs before needing a new coat good product guys thanks rustoleum.

I used this product on a new 2 year old driveway in the fall and after winter was over you couldn't tell I had even coated the driveway. Do not waste your time and money.

You will need 3 to 4 times more product than the label says. My normal $100 driveway sealing project costed me $400. I had to go back to the store 2 extra times because the stuff does not cover as stated on the label. Plus the product is now turning gray after just 2.5 months! Not worth it.

Comments about RUST-OLEUM CORP Rust-Oleum® Epoxy Shield Blacktop Coating (247471):
Was going to coat a 800 ft d'way, but at what it cost will only cover top pad in front of garage. It does look good, and epoxy is a plus over regular coatings. The adhesion should be better. My asphalt guy said other than looks NO sealer is ever required, so I left a 5 year old section uncoated. Other than turning gray I think he's right. It's only for looks anyway.
P.S. I do paint adhesion testing as a profession.

Comments about RUST-OLEUM CORP Rust-Oleum® Epoxy Shield Blacktop Coating (247471):
I bought this product solely based on the name "Rust-Oleum", what a mistake, first the container is only 1/2 full, the coverage is only 1/3 to 1/2 what they say, and the cost is 3 - 4 times what you would have spent for any other sealer. That being said if you don't mind spending over [$], for something that should cost less than $30 then ok.I will never buy a rust-oleum product again for anything

- Making driveway pretty
Comments about RUST-OLEUM CORP Rust-Oleum® Epoxy Shield Blacktop Coating (247471):
Doesn't cover nearly the area it said it would. 4 buckets of blacktop sealer cover my driveway, which is uncracked and in good condition. Based on specs on can, I bought 3 buckets of the Rustoleum (on sale for [$]) and my driveway is only half done. Now price is up to [$] a can. I could have used regular 10-year sealer and had the driveway done for $100. Instead, I've already spent $120 and still need at least 2 or 3 more buckets that will be another $120 - $150 depending on whether I can find it on sale this time of year, which is doubtful, since everyone is now selling snow shovels and snow throwers.

Comments about RUST-OLEUM CORP Rust-Oleum® Epoxy Shield Blacktop Coating (247471):
Waited for ideal conditions to apply coating on clean dry surface. Typical home driveway with no cracks or holes. The 2 gallon pail only covered 100sq ft. not the 600-800sf advertised. I called the company and the quality control tech said the product is not supposed to seal the asphalt but to just coat the top. I guess it's just supposed to be driveway "paint". Terrible product.

I just coated my asphalt drive way use this product, it was approx. 87 degree temperature. I waited 2 days before I parked my SUV on the newly coated drive way. My drive way looks great until I start finding "hot tire pick up spots" on my drive way. I used some other blacktop sealers before, but this is my first time to see hot tire pick up spots. I guess you do not want to use this product if you live in a hot summer weather area and you park your car on the driveway.

I am doing a 2800 sq. ft. area. Bought 5 pails and did half the job. Now store is out and no other store in area has. Found some in store 120 miles away. Will drive 240 round trip miles in order to finish. Menards here not to get in for three weeks.I would say coverage is closer to 200 sq.ft.then what they say at 800 sq.ft. Get your wallet out. My $160.00 job turned into $400.00.
