I am price comparing and have never shopped at Ace before. After seeing the commercials I thought I would check it out. It seems that the smaller "stores" are forgotten about so I wanted to check out their deals. I was diappointed that I am still able to get a larger grill (same brand and style) for the same price at their "larger" competitors store. Sorry ACE, your prices are just not as [@]. I would suggest to price compare to stay competitive.

This grill is a real heavyweight. The steel is heavy gauge with a nice powder coat finish.Assembly is pretty straight forward and all parts fit together well. The cast iron grates (and the whole inside) require seasoning with vegetable oil like you would a cast iron skillet, but once that is done the grates are as close to non-stick as you're going to find, better than Teflon. Only negative is that the wooden shelves and handle could use a better finish, but overall the grill is really well made and should last many years. Nicest features include a movable fire grate so you can adjust the distance from the coals, removable 3 piece grates so you can easily add more charcoal without having to remove what you are cooking , and an easy to empty ash pan. You can get a side box for smoking but it isn't really needed unless youplan on doing huge amounts of smoking.Ace has the best price.

I purchase this grill last spring and assembled it myself. I seasoned the grates and barrel a few times as well before use. I also stained the wood shelves so that they would last (they are not stained.)
I didn't purchase the side box, so while I have smoked smaller items like salmon or a pork loin, you will need a side box for longer cooking times like ribs or turkey.
But as a grill, this is really great. Even a year later, it's still holding up. Had to reseason the grates but good to go from there.
