Comments about Protemp® 40,000 BTU Portable Fan Forced Propane Heater (PT-40-GFA):
I bought this unit and a convection style portable propane heater at the same time and just wanted to give a comparison. This unit seems adequate for a garage, and would be ideal if pointed right at you. The convection heater was $50 more but has much more versatility (camping, tailgating, and others where electricity is not available) its also much higher BTUs (80,000 instead of 40,000) so despite not having a fan it throws much more heat.

Comments about Protemp® 40,000 BTU Portable Fan Forced Propane Heater (PT-40-GFA):
And I do mean little, was expecting something a bit larger, and was pleasantly surprised at its micro size [for a forced air heater], as my garage is pretty cluttered as it is.Comes with a nice 6 ft hose and regulator, I was at first baffled how to hook it up to the tank, it wouldn't thread.Come to find out the tank has reverse threads, so duh on me.Got screwed on the tank, I paid $50 for one of those outside of walgreens [$30 if you have the tank already] ... I have since found gas stations that have the same thing for $15 and $30, respectively. So if you get 10+ hours of heat out of a tank, not too bad at that price. After hooking it up and checking for leaks, it fired right up on the first try, and warmed up the garage in no time flat. The fact that you must leave a door open to counter emission buildup when using these propane heaters is a bit counter productive, but a fact of life using these, and the warm air blasts out the cold before too long.I'm a bit paranoid about propane tanks in confined spaces, and thats a good thing.Check for leaks [with water & soap at connections] before each use, make sure there are no flammable solvents in proximity to the heater, make sure you have proper ventilation, and everything should be fine. Can't say much else, such as how long a 20lb tank lasts, but this seems to work as advertised, now I can get things accomplished in the garage without freezing me butt off.I looked high and wide at major retailers for these, no one has them, so I'm glad I found this.Decent price, [...]
