Comments about P3® Kill A Watt EZ Power Meter (P4460):
Purchase a short cord to plug this device in to the cord while testing because it is hard to read and operate at a fixed outlet.
My generators do not have a Hertz monitor. I did check the voltage via a meter but I had no way of checking the cycles per second (Hz). The older generator was 24 Hz off and more than the allowable percentage, I am surprised we did not burn anything up. With this tool, I was able to fix the old generator and save thousands. This tool is necessary because sometimes generators will decrease in Hz as you apply a greater electrical load. The new generator we just purchased had not been tested yet at full load, and this meter indicated the generator was on the Hz and voltage at our furthest outlet at 100 percent load- very comforting information if you are using this equipment during outages or emergencies. If the voltage OR the Hertz is off generally, more than 10 percent, you can burn up appliances, electronics, etc. Buy one of these for your generator and test it BEFORE THE EMERGENCY HAPPENS.
