Comments about England's Stove Works® Englander® 2200Sq Ft Free Standing Wood Burning Stove (50-SNC30):
Yes this is a difficult stove to fire up (arn't they all?) but guys, for gods sake, that darn thing ships with a blower.. use it! But some 4" flex pipe at the store and connect to the air intake then use some 6" to connect blower to tube add kindling and well placed log or two SHUT THE DOOR, switch on and come back in 30mins to hot coals, Sheesh.
Once fired up, this thing rocks and the air intake is size correctly. It is not big enough for cold starts. It would need to be 3x the size and then joe public would overfire the thang and complain about that. Once runnign this stove is well tuned and works well.

Comments about England's Stove Works® Englander® 2200Sq Ft Free Standing Wood Burning Stove (50-SNC30):
After studying reviews on various stoves, I searched online and found the NC-30 available in our area at a discounted price, and we went to pick it up. It is heavy. I removed the base and installed the legs, and it looks nicer now.
I knew from the reviews that we would need good draft for the stove to perform well, so I worked on our chimney arrangement. We cured the paint while the weather was mild
so we could air out the house easily. It puts off a strong
smell the first while. The stove does need good draft. It
has performed better as the weather has gotten colder, as the draft has increased. 20" length wood goes in the stove OK but I have cut my wood to about 18" for easy loading. I have been very pleased with how efficient the NC-30 is; we use much less wood than before with our low-tech stove. We burn mostly aspen because it is very clean, and we cut it locally. There are hot coals in the morning if we put in big pieces in the late evening.
The negative reviews seem to be entirely because of poor draft, and don't do justice to this efficient, good quality
and economical stove. An acquaintance in town has one too and is very happy with it.
Comments about England's Stove Works® Englander® 2200Sq Ft Free Standing Wood Burning Stove (50-SNC30):
This is a great stove. The only time I had a problem with draft is when it was extremely windy from a cold start. Still got it going with a little extra effort. I have never had to leave the door open more than a couple minutes to get a fire started. From a cold start we have windows open very quickly due to too much heat. I would recommend this stove!

- Fuel Efficient

Comments about England's Stove Works® Englander® 2200Sq Ft Free Standing Wood Burning Stove (50-SNC30):
I had a Blaze King Princess which was in my house when I bought it about 3 years ago. I decided to buy a cleaner and more efficient woodstove and the Blaze King had a crack in the door. After some research, I bought a the NC30 3.5 cubic foot stove.
Anyway, after hiring someone to help me hook up the stove pipe, I've had nothing but trouble with this stove. It is extremely difficult to get a fire started and draws VERY poorly. After getting a fire started, I have to leave the door open for about 2 hours. If I try to shut the door, the fire almost immediately goes out. Even after 2 hours, I often can't shut the door or I will lose the fire. I mean it is hard to get paper to light off of coals in this stove! It definitely puts out less heat than the old Blaze King, but does burn less amount of wood. Once the fire is started and I have to add more wood, huge amounts of smoke billow out into the room when I open the door. I'm going to call a different professional to inspect the hook-up to see if there is something to be done on that end to fix the poor draw. If that doesn't work, I'm definitely going to try and return this nightmare stove. Buyer Beware!

I test fired my new NC 30 yesterday and true to the previous poster it does take a while to heat up but after discovering that if the door is left open a bit and it seems to have been designed for that ( book even says so ) this thing went to 450 degrees in the box quickly and maintained this for 2 hours with 2 small pieces of wood and even after 6 hours the front top of stove was uncomfortable to touch and that is with damper closed.
This winter will be the serious test
I also was using 20 inch oak wood and it seems to fit side to side and back to front with no problem but over 20 inches would be difficult. I live 20 miles form where they make these stoves and have been asking many questions of the folks at Englander and they are most helpful.

You better have a good back-up because it takes a good two hours to get any heat out of it because it's so hard to get going. It has a POOR DRAFT system.
The ASH SYSTEM does NOT work....the only way to get ashes out is to shovel them out.
They advertise it takes 20" logs.... only if you put it in cornor to cornor .
We use this as our main source of heat and we are very disappointed.
