This year we installed a new composite deck and hosted parties with 30+ people grilling burgers and chicken. We bought two grill mats, one I keep under the grill and one is placed in front of of it to guard against grease stains and spatter on the deck surface. These mats are lightweight and easy to roll up and store out of the way.
The mats are double-sided, but I would be careful to always keep the same side up as the whole point is to not transfer any grease drips to your deck surface.

Just had a composite deck put in and this product is perfect for under my grill. It is very light weight and thin so I just roll it up after using the grill and remove it from the decking. I have noticed that other items on the light colored deck do leave a mark, so I decided not to chance leaving the mat on the deck all the time. The mat will not stick to hot deck, like some other products will, so its an affordable and safe bet.
