Yeti Spotted In Nor-Cal

I received the Yeti 160 as a gift from my wife after the birth of our son. The first time I used the cooler was for a 6 day camping trip in the Sierra Nevada and the cooler far exceeded my expectations. On the trip to our destination the cooler was in direct sunlight on a 105 degree day in an uncovered trailer for over 4 hours. The remainder of the trip we were at a campground at around 4000 ft. where the day time highs were in the 90's and the overnight lows were in the 60's. To make a long story short after 12 days I still had 6 or 7 half melted 10lbs blocks of ice left. How I packed my cooler was as follows. A week before my trip I purchased 80 lbs of loose ice and 8-10lb blocks and stored them in my chest freezer @ 20 below zero. Also at the same time I pre-chilled beer, sodas, water and froze any meat that was going as well. I left my Yeti in the house for a few days in the air conditioning to ensure it was at room temperature and not overheated from the 100+ degree temperatures outside. Then two days before I had to pack the coolers I placed 40 lbs of ice in the cooler to pre-chill it. I then disposed of that ice when I packed the cooler. I packed the cooler by placing 4-4lb Yeti Ice and 2-1lb Yeti ice at the bottom and I put 10 lbs of dry ice in the spaces. Then I put 6 or 7 (I can't remember) 10lb blocks of ice on top of the Yeti Ice. Then added all of the pre-chilled food and frozen meat. After that I filled in all the gaps with around 40 lbs of loose ice. The ice took up alot of space but the cooler is so big it didn't matter. We had food and drinks for 6 people for 6 days. (Yeti 75 was full of beer also) As the days went by the non Yeti coolers ran out of ice and we starting moving items from those coolers into my 160. I had the cooler in the shade the whole time under my pop up and was opened and used a lot each day. After we returned from our trip the cooler was left in the 120 + degree garage for another 6 days full of drinks and ice. When I emptied the cooler on day 12 there was still plenty of ice, cold water and frosty drinks.

Used the cooler for the first time over Memorial Day weekend. Other coolers were on the boat and fared as well or better on maintaining ice. I left water in the cooler so I'm wondering if I should have drained some each time I added more ice.

I have been very happy with my roadie. If you want something lighter then definitely go with the hopper. The roadie makes a great road trip companion or fishing buddy.

I bought my yeti 2 weeks ago to go on vacation down the outer banks north Carolina. It has been a great purpose we used to down on the beach during the day and we brought it on our full day charter out fishing for Mahi and tuna. The cooler has held ice really well in all conditions. Love my yeti I'll never buy another cooler

Perfect for my needs

By DrMindy

from Athens, OH, United States

Comments about YETI 1036078 Yeti Tundra 125 Cooler (YT125W):

I was looking for a cooler that could keep my food cold in a hot car sitting for over 18 hours in summer while baking in the sun. I found it with my Tundra 50. It was actually cold enough to freeze some of the contents even under those conditions. It is a manageable size and weight to be carried by one person even when completely full.

New Favorite Thing on the boat!

By LoFox23

Comments about YETI 1036078 Yeti Tundra 125 Cooler (YT125W):

I bought the Yeti Tundra 35 a few weeks ago as a present for my boyfriend and he loves it so much! The first time we used it was at Lake Havasu, AZ for Memorial Day weekend and it handled the 100+ degree weather perfectly. The ice stayed cold and 80% frozen the whole day on the lake. It was also a great extra seat and never slid around. We can't wait to get another one!

Bought the roadie on Friday pre chilled and headed to the mountains with 15 pounds of ice and 2 6 packs of bottles. Monday morning and I have both our limits of trout no bottles and half the ice I started with. It is a little heavy but when you consider it's capabilities I'm okay with the weight

Stands Up to Life!

By Tony Edgecomb

from Fredericksburg, VA, United States

Comments about YETI 1036078 Yeti Tundra 125 Cooler (YT125W):

I bought the Tundra 35 a few weeks back and haven't been disappointed! As a firefighter we often travel stations. I'm able to pack ice and all of my supplies for a shift in the tundra and leave it on the truck! When I have to travel I just take it out and move stations. I know that I always have cold supplies that I don't have to check on. I can put ice in it on Friday and Monday morning just drain the water off, add a little more ice and I'm good to go. Any other cooler I've owned would have everything floating after the first day! If you're on the fence, buy one, it's absolutely worth the money! Customer for life!

Not real happy..

By Snap on Dean

from Burlington Colo

Comments about YETI 1036078 Yeti Tundra 125 Cooler (YT125W):

Not real happy with the purchase of our 110. We came to the lake in Texas and had our cooler in the room the whole time, 70 degress and no sun. I had always attributed it to opening and closing it all the time for the reason it didn't hold ice, but this weekend was the proof I needed. We only opened it once in the morning to fill our little cooler and the 3rd day we had no ice left. I hear all these stories about how long they hold ice but I swear we have a cheap igloo that holds ice just as well and far less money!

Keeps BBQ frozen for days

By Uncle Matt

from Tennessee, United States

Comments about YETI 1036078 Yeti Tundra 125 Cooler (YT125W):

I bought my Yeti 50 because it can hold the foil half steam table pans. I put 4 pans of pulled pork BBQ and some Brisket in the Yeti plus Yeti frozen ice packs. The meat stayed frozen rock solid for 5 days. I had two days of driving and a few more just relaxing on the beach. Before the event. The cooler did it's job. So I could do mine.

Yeti mini just fir me

By Capt Brian

from Solomons, MD, United States

Comments about YETI 1036078 Yeti Tundra 125 Cooler (YT125W):

I was not sure about the small size at first. I have the 110 and the 350!!! And i love LOVE THEM. but i needed more of a lunch box size cooler. Pack up with 3 or 4 days of meal prep lunches with some BAi coconut waters and head to work. It has been a few weeks and after a few rounds of lunches and ice cold beverages coming out at lunch time from the bed of my truck the other guys around the dock are really taking notice. Eat clean. Live clean. Thats my new take in life. This cooler is helping make that alot easier. Cooking once a week, pack it and forget it. Ice stays there all week with very little melt. My next size will be the 65 for sure... just a touch more room would be great! Thanks yeti for making my life better -- Capt Brian Mayer (Marauder Charter. Solomons md)

Built to last & stays cold in the heat!

By b RAD

from Mill Valley, CA, United States

Comments about YETI 1036078 Yeti Tundra 125 Cooler (YT125W):

Having been an outdoor guide for 25 years, I've always been disappointed with any and all of the coolers for in field use that I have used. But not now, having just returned from the heat of Southern Utah after a 7 day commercial cycling tour, I can say with confidence that the Yeti coolers are far superior than any other cooler I've ever used! The Yeti's are incredibly durable and they provide many more hours of ice retention.

Perfect cooler for my kind of camping

By CaryA

from Fort Collins, CO, United States

Comments about YETI 1036078 Yeti Tundra 125 Cooler (YT125W):

I bought my 35 because I wanted a good cooler that would fit in my little airplane's baggage compartment and still leave room for the other camping gear I like to carry. I've had it for several years, and it's still the best. Initially it was hard to justify its cost, but I've gotten my money's worth out of it. I made a divider out of polycarbonate because the Yeti divider prevents the basket from being used. Yeti should offer a short divider. Ice goes on one side, with food on the other side and in the basket. Half a cooler of ice lasts about 4 days, in weather that is 85-90 in the daytime and 55-65 at night. I precool the Yeti for at least a day, and I precool all the food that goes in it. I keep it out of the sun as much as possible. I turned the latches around to give more room in the airplane's baggage compartment. Incidentally, they show no signs of failing after several years of use. I do keep the cooler out of the sun as much as possible, though, as mentioned. It won't happen because I keep it locked, but if it were to "disappear", I'd get another.
