Before I started canning, you could not have told me that I needed this 1 trick pony. I pressure can raw chicken cold pack. It has notches so measurement is not a problem. I tried using plastic knives, while they work, you just can't get to the bottom of the jar. [$] is not a huge investment for this one trick pony. Actually, if Norpro made it in a different color, I would own 2, one for veggies & the other for meat.
