I have used Bench Grinders since I was 9yrs of age, 39 years now.
This Grinder does the job. Sharpens Carbon Steel metals very well (Kitchen Knifes, Yard equipment blades, shovels, hoes, mower blades, remove rust, even using the polish Cloth Wheel to bring back a shine to metals!)
People who are experienced with Bench Grinders know that you let the Wheel do the work, not BRUTE STRENGTH!! Just sliding the object back and forth over the wheel will do the job!
And with ALL Machines, you need to turn them on and let them get up to speed before using them. Only takes about 15 to 20 seconds and this Grinder is ready to work!
It is light in weight, so very easy to move outside to use in Open Air, away from any flammables.. remember, when Grinding Metal you will cause SPARKS!! The Grinder does has the means to be bolted down also, upon a work bench. I bolted mine to a piece of 2 x 6 treated lumber, so that I could move it when needed, and use clamps to hold it down to any object I need to keep it stable.. Even though this Grinder has small spark deflector shields, I still recommend the wearing of safety glasses; due to sparks and small fine particles of metal do fly upward; which is the NORM for ALL GRINDERS.. This Grinder can be taken with ease to any location to use on the spot...
One Problem... DO NOT LET YOUR NEIGHBORS see you outside sharpening objects!! They will come running with everything they have to ask you to sharpen their tools as well... :)

Weak. Takes a long time to get up to speed only to slow down to nearly a stop if you actually grind something hard. Was very unhappy to find that it was so underpowered. I like the size but in this case, it's not worth the space it's taking up.

When I lived in the UK, I had an inexpensive bench grinder, which I used almost daily for well over ten years.
When I moved to the States, I couldn't take my grinder with me, so I gave it to a friend, who still uses it to this day.
Why am I talking about my old grinder?
Because this grinder is the exact same model!
I was delighted when I found this grinder, because it was like having my old friend back (albeit with a different badge on it and in a different color).
My new grinder works just as good as my old one, and I expect it to give many years of service.
To the reviewer that said that the RPM slowed when pressure was applied to the workpiece: This is happening because you are using your grinder incorrectly. Apply less pressure and let the tool do the work!

Just tried it out to sharpen my ax and grass shears. Worked very well and easy to use. One reviewer complained that when putting pressure on the wheel the motor RPM dropped. You don't need to apply very much pressure when putting on an edge, just let the grinding wheel do the work and move it across the wheel when motor reaches full RPM. For the money it's a keeper.
