I wanted to make good use of a closet that is not used for hanging storage, and these shelves fit perfectly. They went together easily (although it does help to have two people working on it). They do just what I wanted them to do -- provide extra storage space. They seem to be more sturdy than other similar shelves since they are rated for more weight per shelf and overall. The price of the unit and the free shipping to my local Ace were just right.

I use the shelves to store tools, decorations, and other miscellaneous items. The shelves are wide enough to store things securely, and there is enough length to measure sufficient space between shelves for large storage containers. The shelves are sturdy and very neat in appearance. The tops of the rods are capped and the rubber leveling pieces on the bottom of the rods keep the unit steady and are adjustable to raise or lower the unit. Excellent product!

I bought two of these units to use in cramped attic space, and they work great in there. I put them together by myself, and the first one was a little tricky to put together. Just make sure you get the sleeve in the right place, and that the shelf is right over the sleeve so it won't slip, and you'll be fine. After I got the hang of it, I didn't have any trouble. They work very well. They're sturdy and well made, and not bad to look at.

I purchased this free-standing wire shelf unit as additional space to fold away and store my bulky winter sweaters and blankets, and I'm very happy with the results.-- It was shipped Free to my local Ace Store for pick-up, (Goodman's Building & Supply), and they loaded it into the trunk of my Lexus for me.
Tired of waiting for my boyfriend to have time to assemble it, I took it upon myself to give it a whirl one Saturday morning, and by lunchtime I had it done. It is surprisingly very sturdy, and the width and depth of the shelves is quite generous. It's just great!
I've done (or attempted to do) numerous DIY projects, and I was very pleased with the well written and clearly illustrated instructions. *A tip I learned from another reviewer; a rubber mallet to tamp down the corners of the shelves is a Must. In a nutshell, for the price and value it has given me, the Protrend 4-Shelf Unit rocks!

when trying to put together you will need someone else to assist you. it's so difficult to keep the black shelf plastic clasps that hold the shelf in place to stay where you want them to get your shelf at the right spot on each shelf except maybe the top one. ACE HARDWARE was the cheapest when buying a pro-trend shelf.

It's a bit tricky putting it together the first time, but once you understand how it works, it's pretty easy. With enough room and patience, 1 person can put it together by themselves. Just start with the bottom shelf first and work your way up! Great product, would have given it 5 stars if it came with wheels.

We bought this unit to display antique sewing machine heads.
The largest is a 52 pound monster Industrial and we were worried that this would be flimsy, but no this is a GREAT shelving solution for us. The only thing I would like to see is a unit with a deeper shelf. We were able to get 8 larger heavy heads, some in bases and some just sitting on cardboard supports on the shelves. We would have liked to put them 2 deep but, and 4 to a shelve but decided the depth was just a few inches short and opted to set only 8 on the unit. BUT the total weight was not a problem for the shelves and we have great confidence that our antiques are attractively, securely and Safely displayed. Great product and a good price.

I bought this unit to use in a small closet. Since I am a renter, I wanted something that could go with me if I move. It was easy to put together and the shelves can easily be adjusted to different heights. It cost less than plastic shelves and is much sturdier. I am very happy with it.

I am using these shelves in my basement to hold tools, seasonal items, paint cans, canning supplies - all the things I need to store out of the main house.

These shelves are wide and deep enough to store between 2 - 4 boxes on each shelf. They go together much quicker than the type that require bolts to assemble and feel stronger.

I got wheels from a big box hardware store which screw in place of the leveling feet and allow me to easily arrange them in my basement very easily. The parts are interchangeable with other wire shelving systems - you just need to be sure the shelf width and depth all match the others in a particular setup. I've used similar wire shelving racks (they were much more expensive than these but the same quality) for a deep closet - making it easy to pull out the things in front to get to the back.

These are a very good price - the shelves are lighter weight than the heavy duty ones you see in stores and the wires span horizontally which can cause boxes to catch when sliding in and out. You can get plastic liners or make your own, but this is only a problem if you are moving things on a daily basis.

My only problem is making sure I don't buy too many! I love these shelves!

I almost bought a similar unit in chrome at a warehouse store, but needed something that would hold a lot of weight. I'm very happy I got this one instead! It's black which was no problem, and holds much more weight than the other one I looked at elsewhere and it was very easy to put together. This could be used anywhere!

The assembly instructions are straightforward, and the hardware-free assembly is clever and exceptionally sturdy compared to other units of comparable price and size. Some trial-and-error learning required to align all four of the corner supports - however easy to correct an error or change the level of the shelf. Not "perfect", but definitely 4.5 on a scale of 5. Versatile shelf size and height positioning of the shelves. I use the shelving for storage of paint and related DIY supplies; and for storage of boxed paperwork. I purchased four, and would purchase more if I needed additional shelving. I strongly recommend this shelving to other customers. The weight capacity is as advertised; with no hesitation. Common sense: Place items to maintain a relatively low center of gravity to avoid tip over.

I've used this product in my closet to store clothes, in my living room to store movies and pictures and to hold my TV. They make a great garage shelve especially when you put wheels on them to roll it around anywhere in the shop and rearrange. The simple clamp and wedge system makes adjusting the height of the shelves very simple and manageable. I own four of these units, some in different heights with more shelves, and I break them down into two or three sections to create a section that is three shelves wide, having the shelves share a pole between each section. They are fun to experiment with and make your own design. Easy to spray paint too if you don't want the flat black color!

I have an extra clothes closet in a new apr - this shelf unit ideal to fit below the bar and make good use of the space for craft/research supplies in bankers boxes. Attractive, sturdy, easy to use - only problem was a slight one -- some of the adjustable rings slid beyond the mark and had to adjust shelf placement somewhat so shelves would stay where placed. Well worth it at the sale price.
