Easy to set up, easy to use. The convenience of being able to lock/unlock door with just touch is fantastic. Note: unlock isn't "instant" - it varies between 3-10 seconds depending on your phone's physical location (see below). Have been using lock for approximately 3/4 of a year in a cold and wet climate. Still on same set of batteries. Love the product, really wish firmware was updated to support WINK! Pro tips: - Easier to install with two people (one to hold the hardware from the outside while the other tightens the bolts from the inside of the door) ~ 10 minutes. - if you have a 32" door with a glass insert you'll need to notch out about 1/4" from the glass trim to accommodate the installation of the hardware/battery compartment inside your home. - No need to use the calibrate option. - Key FOB is automatically paired to lock from factory. - Going forward, when unlocking, easier/faster if you have the device exactly where it was when you locked the door for the first time (I.E. in your purse/same pocket/same hand etc. as it guesstimates by the phone's actual location). - Disable power management for the KEVO app on your phone. - If after doing all the above, unlocking seems to be taking longer than before, try changing the batteries (use alkaline) in the lock. Wishlist/features I'd like to see implemented: HARDWARE - ability to select the colour of LED for various states. I.E. Green = locked (instead of currently unlocked); Orange/Red = caution for unlocked (instead of locked); Purple = thinking (instead of blue); Blue = Try again - ability to lock/unlock with Wink! instead of unnecessary and expensive KEVO Plus add-on (after all, Wink! hub supports total home intergration and has the required level of Bluetooth - integration is what folks want, not another gadget to place within close proximity, fighting for valuable power outlet real estate). - ability to specify double-tap (@ the lock, not the app) to avoid unlocking/locking accidently. - smaller footprint for inside hardware/battery compartment (so as to avoid having to notch out glass trim on 32" doors). SOFTWARE - app doesn't report notifications correctly (published time of **event** in app notification doesn't match time of **event** as specified in email notification for Newfoundland time zone). I'm not referring to the time the email is received... I am referring to the actual time of the event. - app to work without having to launch it twice (first time just closes out, second time it works - Note 4 Edge as well as Note 5). - ability to sort/search history by date, time and person.

Awesome when it works which is rarely

My family of five has been using this for a year. One iPhone 6 works reliably, after finding the documentation to set the iPhone setting so it would work without the app being open. Another iPhone 6 doesn't work reliably even with this setting. Another iPhone 6 user wasn't willing to bear the cost of Bluetooth on all the time and so went back to using a metal key. It works fine for one family member with a Samsung Android phone. It worked 30% or so of the time for a family member with a Moto X phone which is admittedly not supported by Kwikset. Why not??? The key fob that came with it worked for awhile, but in a year, I have had to change its battery four times. Sometimes it works for a week at a stretch, but then I have to reset it with a pen to get it going again. The lock from time to time locks on its own without anyone touching it and often even when the person just leaving doesn't have any electronic devices with them. On several occasions this behavior has resulted in us being locked out of our own house. It has not yet erroneously unlocked. If it did, I would remove it and throw it away. However, the erroneously locking is very annoying. I have had a Nissan Leaf for a year and a half and its electronic key fob has worked flawlessly during that time. Perhaps Kwikset needs to hire their engineers to redo their electronics. I give this product two stars because it does work about 40% of the time. When it works, it is awesome. However, as soon as some similar product comes along that works nearly 100% of the time, I am ripping this thing out and trashing it!!!

Purchased this lock for convenience and b/c it's a cool tech kinda thing. Main purpose was for when we are out walking the pets & don't want to bring a set of keys. We always have our phones with us, so thought it would be perfect. Far from it. The app is always shutting down. Sometimes takes up to a minute for the door to connect and unlock (even when connected to the house wifi). We also purchased a booster and plugged it in right behind the door. That doesn't help either. Sometimes it doesn't work, I'll get my keys out to manually unlock & by the time I go to shut the door, the KÄ"vo magically starts working & locks the door even before it gets shut. Very disappointed. Wish we would have just purchased one with the keypad.

I bought a Kevo lock and it did not work, so after a few calls to troubleshoot, I brought it back to the store and exchanged for another one. After numerous calls to Kevo it appeared to work, though inconsistently. After a few days, the touch quit responding and then the fob quit working. Finally I returned it and got a refund. I ended up purchasing a different kind of lock. The idea of a kevo lock was appealing but unfortunately in the end it was more trouble than anything.

The fob works about 10% of the time, the phone works but very slow. Plus when I go out the door before I can close the door it is already placing in locked mode. very frustrating. Not sure I would purchase another one.

I bought this over a year ago for our lake house. The upside is that it CAN operate via Bluetooth when the stars are properly aligned. The downsides are many: * It locks itself occasionally when you are closing the door, whether you touch the ring or not. We generally leave the bolt extended if we don't want the door locked. * The iOS app stops paying attention after a few weeks. This is awful for a lake house. When we walk up to the house after a few weeks, touch the ring, the lights spin, but the lock doesn't open. We have to open the app to remind it to pay attention. Then the door opens. Not reliably a hands-free experience. * It is hard to simply send someone a 'key' and have them use it. Our daughter in law and toddler were locked out for a half hour since her personal key needed some magic before it would really work. I'll skip the bad things I have to say about Kevo Plus for somewhere else.

Doesn't work half the time with your smartphone as your ekey. Most of the time you have to close the app and reopen the open the app to operate your lock. Sometimes you actually have to log out of your account and log back in to get it to work. The time you spent you could have just used key to manually unlock the door.

Have had it for 3yrs now & it's been a love/hate relationship & now since they starting doing all the updates on it & these last updates really screwed ours up. It doesn't want to lock or it unlocks on its own w/o my phone even being by it. Just about ready to trash it. Just really frustrating sucks!! At this point definetly would not recommend to anyone.

I purchased the 925 Kevo over a year ago. As the holder of the master account, I have had few problems. My wife and daughter have subordinate accounts and they can rarely use the touch EVEN with their iphone in their hand! I have read all sorts of items on the Internet but there is no solution that really works. I have "recalibrated" more time than I can enumerate--ZERO. We are back to brass keys as this Kevo device does not work for 2 out of 3 users--UNRELIABLE!

I love the concept but have had consistent trouble. A lot of the time when I try to unlock my door by touching the Kevo lock, it just flashes red after searching for a few seconds. A lot of the time when I check the app on my phone, I am not logged in and need to put in my ID and password again to enable it. It is more convenient to just use a key. I don't want to have to remember another password and put in all the time. I'll read the instructions and FAQ again to see if there is something I'm doing wrong. But so far has fallen below my expectations for a $200 lock. I do absolutely love that they started offering free eKeys beyond just the 1 free originally.

This lock has under performed my expectations; keep your keys. I've had the Kevo lock for almost 2 years and it's inability to not unlock and lock the door repeatedly seems to defeat the whole purpose of owning it. Many times it's quicker to pull out my hide a key because the lock won't function properly. The lock is on a garage entry door.

It works but is slow to open with either fob or phone app. Sometimes it has a mind of its own and will lock when you walk outside without anything. Thats why i keep a key hidden just in case. I have tried calibrating and updating it but it randomly locks even when the door is still open.

I have had the Kevo lock for several months now. I usually have to take my phone out of my pocket for it to work. Sometimes I have to open the Kevo app on my phone to get the lock to respond. There have been occasions when we shut the door and it locks by itself and yes this only happens when my phone is inside the house. I have been thinking of trying another brand of smart lock. One that won't lock me out of my house.

I bought the KÄ""vo lock when it first came out. WHAT A MISTAKE. This piece of junk has gotten worse and worse as time goes on. I spend more time standing outside my door waiting to get inside my house than you can imagine. I can only access the lock thru my iPhone the touch and fab will work maybe 1 out of 7 tries. I would not recommend this product at ALL

I bought this about a year ago for a house I had just purchased and have nothing but trouble out of it. It keeps losing fobs and disables phone apps. I have to reset the lock weekly and ready all fobs. I am very disappointed in it. I finally quit using it and went back to the other lock on the door.

Battery needs longer life

Our son put this in because I was quit ill and we live in a second floor condo. The purpose was to be able to not have to go up and down the stairs to know when was at the door and to be able to invite them in. I love the concept but the battery does not hold the 6 months that was indicated so it is frustrating to have to charge it so often and I can hear on my phone but the ring in the house if your not near your phone is not nearly loud enough. Maybe we just don't know enough yet on how to stretch battery time and how to get better volume.

I bought this lock with much enthusiasm because with three children of our own and several cousins constantly coming and going trying to keep track of keys was a giant pain. The initial month or so was great but then I added the gateway so I could remotely operate the lock. Well, that was a giant bust. At first it didn't work at all but after some tinkering from Kwikset it started working, sometimes. On more than one occasion the gateway confirmed the lock was open only to get a call that it wasn't. I had hoped that with future updates it would get better but I was wrong, it only got worse. When I updated my iPhone to iOS 6 Kevo stopped working in the background so we had to open the app every time we used the touch to enter feature, which we had to do often since the remote open feature rarely worked. Eventually Kwikset updated Kevo so it would play nice with iOS 6 and work properly in the background. Wrong. We still had to open the app over 50% of the time for the touch to open to operate. A week or so ago I noticed Kevo was operating properly and was hopeful the latest update had fixed the problem. Wrong again. It returned to it's usual, partially working self the next day. I wanted so badly to like this product but with all the issues and Kwiksets refusal integrate Kevo with Apple HomeKit I am changing brands. Hopefully the new lock will work as well as Kevo was advertised.

I read quite a bit about remote operating devices for locking systems and the Kevo seemed to fit the bill. However, I've been very unimpressed. Battery life is woeful. Changing batteries every 4 or 5 months is crazy. Especially as we don't use if very often. Why don't we use it? Because it rarely works. Constantly needing to re calibrate and slow to recognise the phone means we're always caring a key! Defeats the reason for buying the lock in the first place.
