Comments about Swing n Slide Trekker 216x12in Swing Set (PB 8320):
Regarding ordering from Acehardware.com: I ordered on a Sunday, and this arrived at our store on Thursday. We only knew this by getting a call from the store. The website said "Processing" until 3 weeks after picking this up, when I got an email saying my order shipped. Weird. However, Ace had the best price anywhere for this set.
Regarding the playset: Like most build-it-yourself items, the instructions for this playset were problematic. Most of the written instructions essentially said "Follow the pictures as shown" This was fine, except where the pictures shown are incorrect, specifically Fig. 19 and Fig. 22. Fig. 19 - assembling the A-frames for the roof, shows a backwards point of view - the shorter board is pictured as longer, with the longer board pictured shorter. Fig. 22, assembling the rock wall, is incorrect. The 1.5x3.5x47.5 boards are shown flush on the outside to the 1x5.5x39.875 boards when they are to be behind those boards. These picture errors caused problems and annoying extra work and time for us.
I viewed online instructions for this playset which are slightly different (that playset has a different gable and decorative chamfer boards) and Figs. 19 and 22 were shown correctly.
Otherwise, we had no missing parts or broken boards. A few boards were slightly warped but we could still work with them. One thing I wish was included would be some kind of corner protector - the edges of the boards at the top of the rock wall have caused numerous scrapes as my son climbs over them. I'm thinking of cutting a garden hose to slide over that edge.
Other thoughts: The roof was very difficult for two of us to install on our own. A third person would be helpful for that. We ended up stripping the torx bits provided, so you may want to have extra on hand. We also had many misc screws, etc leftover.
Overall this set is very sturdy and my boys love it. It took my husband and I many days to assemble (with kids running around us), but the end result is great.
