Comments about ACE HARDWARE Ace® 60 Grit Hook And Loop Vented Sanding Discs 5pk:
I was refinishing a few boards and realized I only had 120 and 220 grit discs so bought a couple of packs of these to get the job done. I knew they were inexpensive and fully expected the sandpaper to wear out quickly but I just needed a few discs.
Surprisingly, the grit held just fine but the hook and loop back proved to be absolute garbage. Within a few minutes of use, the disc would not adhere any longer. It took me all 10 discs to finish the job just because the hook and loop would just not adhere after a few minutes of use. At one point I lifted my orbital sander and the disc flew right off. Sad thing is the sand paper on all 10 discs had probably 95% of its grit left.
There was no damage to the package or the discs. Also, my orbital sander had no issues with the Diablo discs (120 and 220) for fine sanding and finishing. In fact, although I was swapping between the 120 and 220 grits between boards, I was still able to do the whole job with 1 Diablo disc of each.
So I can confidently say the hook and loop setup in these discs are of very poor design and not worth buying.
