What You'll Need:

  • Clark+Kensington® interior paint
  • 4" roller frame and cover
  • 1" angled paintbrush
  • Small paint tray
  • Paint stir stick
  • Painter's tape
  • 180 grit sanding block
  • Tape measure
  • Pencil
  • Damp rag

First, take the tape measure and measure out the stripe widths on the front and back edges of the bookshelf, marking them with a pencil.

Next, apply painter's tape along the pencil markings to frame out the first stripe. Lightly sand between the tape lines where you intend to paint.

Helpful Tip:

Use a paintbrush to make painting corners, edges and tight spaces easier

Using the roller, paint down the middle between the tape lines with Clark+Kensington® Paint Illuminated Sky 32C-3. Apply a second coat once the first is dry, and then remove the tape while the second coat is still wet so you get nice clean lines.

Once the first stripe is finished, repeat the process with Clark+Kensington® Paint Stainless Steel 37B-4 and Spicy Paprika 08B-7 for the additional stripes.

The end result is a cool new look that makes an ordinary piece of furniture look extraordinary. Remember, any makeover can be made easy when you count on the experts at your local Ace.

If your home was built prior to 1978, check for lead-based paint before you sand or scrape any painting surfaces. Call 1-800-424-LEAD or log on to www.epa.gov/lead for more information.
