I own a 10 year old Model 93 Pro which is the older version of this 700. I have had it on city water with no problems until recently. My water pressure began to drop. I called water boss and they told me that my model was not designed for city water. The previous owner apparently did not know this when they installed it. The chlorine in the city water will break down the media in the resin tank. The model 950 is the one designed for city use because it removes the chlorine before it enters the resin tank. [...] This is a great unit, but do not use it on city water. I am going to replace the media anyway and continue to use it because it has worked so well for me so far. Great product!

I needed a compact softener to install in a manufactured home along with a tankless heater in a small cubby hole. It was a perfect fit. It does an excellent job softening. It only took 2 bags of salt to fill and uses very little salt, for 2 adults in a small house 1 bag every 2 months. I have low water pressure on a well and it still works great. Been using it for 4 months and I'm very impressed.

I'm a plumbing contractor and have been installing these units for the past 6 years. They are easy to install and set-up. Operation is also simple and intuitive.
Over the this time period I have received zero call backs and nothing but good comments from my customers. The customers are always leary at first due to the small size but soon become convinced that it's a great softener. The bonus to the customer is that it is small, quite and uses less pellets than other manufacturers products.

After 12 years and a couple of intermittent leaks, the unit overflowed onto my garage floor while we were gone for a month. Turned out that an internal weld on a plastic part failed and they cannot fix the unit. I spent a month with the friendly tech folks working on this before I finally found the leak. Replacement is required. This kinda frosts me because the failure is on a part that I (or anyone else)could not have broken, and they should have offered me a discount on a replacement unit.
While it was working, it did an excellent job on our hard water, regenerated quickly(about 80% quicker than the GE softeners quote), used very little salt compared to my previous unit, and did not affect the taste of the water. Does not require periodic resin replacement due to the backflush operation. I recommended this unit to two other friends - one died after 11 years, the other is a new installation.

We installed this in my elderly parents home over 4 years ago. Love the short height - much easier to load salt. And, this unit replaced a larger Kenmore. It uses much less salt and water. No problems. Great product. We installed the 900 series in our home with a family of 5 over 3 years ago. Love it too!

I was skeptical that a softener with this small design could do the job for my whole house of 3 bathrooms, kitchen and laundry room. Realitively easy to hook up although it took rerouting of some piping to change it from my older and much taller unit to a much shorter unit. I really like it but reserve my real feelings until I have had it installed several years without any problems as durability is a key element of a great product!
