How to Season Your Griddle (cold rolled steel)

  • Heat your griddle on high heat for 15 minutes or until griddle starts to darken into a deep copper or dark brown color
  • Carefully add 4 tbsp of Blackstone griddle seasoning or high smoke point oil
  • Using a towel folded into a small square
  • Carefully work the griddle seasoning into the griddle until it is evenly applied
  • Leave the dome open and allow the griddle to burnish in the oil for 15 minutes.  Keep heat on high
  • Repeat the above process 3 more times, every 15 minutes, until the oil has “dried” or polymerized with the steel griddle
  • Allow griddle to cool for 45-60 minutes
  • Once griddle is cooled, wipe with another fine layer of griddle seasoning until evenly applied
  • Close the griddle dome or cover the griddle surface and store in a cool dry place until use

How to Clean Your Griddle – LIGHTLY SOILED

  • When finished cooking, allow griddle to fully cool
  • Scrape off any food or debris using the bench scraper (in blackstone tool kit)
  • If Needed, add warm water and use a blackstone scrubbing pad scrub off griddle (light pressure)
  • Wipe off griddle with a wet cloth or towel
  • Dry griddle with paper towel or towel
  • Wipe with another fine layer of griddle seasoning until evenly applied
  • Close the griddle dome or cover the griddle surface and store in a cool dry place until use

How to Clean Your Wok – HEAVILY SOILED

  • When finished cooking, allow griddle to fully cool
  • Scrape off any food or debris using the bench scraper (in blackstone tool kit)
  • If Needed, add warm water, 1 drop of dish soap and use a blackstone scrubbing pad scrub off griddle (heavy pressure) or if needed use a stainless steel scrubbie
  • Wipe off griddle with a wet cloth or towel
  • Dry griddle with paper towel or towel
  • Wipe with another fine layer of griddle seasoning until evenly applied
  • If you used a stainless steel scrubbie, repeat full seasoning process if needed
