Edge Your Lawn for a Manicured Look

When grass and weeds grow over onto the sidewalk or driveway, it creates an unsightly and sloppy appearance. Edgers work well to neatly trim back the grass and make a nice, straight edge for a manicured appearance. It’s easy and economical to use a manual edger to care for your lawn.

How to Use a Manual Edger on Your Lawn

1 Grasp the Tool Firmly with Both Hands

Begin by firmly grasping the manual edger, similar to how you would hold a push broom. You will have to work the tool back and forth to cut through the grass and create a trench between the pavement and the lawn.

2 Push the Tool Back and Forth

Push the tool back and forth along the edge of the sidewalk or driveway. Some force is necessary to cut through the built-up grass and dirt along the edge.

3 Edge Your Lawn Again in Two Weeks

It will get progressively easier to edge the more times you do it. After edging a few times, a small trench will form in the dirt that makes it easier to push the edger tool along.
