Comments about Presto® Pressure Cooker (01241):
While a bigger cooker might be useful for folks who cook roasts and such or do home canning, this little one is the perfect size to perfectly cook up dried beans in minutes (about 10) compared to hours. The 4-qt capacity is sufficient for enough beans to feed a crowd but works just fine on 1/4c of dried beans too.
Not only do you save money over canned beans, you get complete and total control over the contents of your meal as well as the portion size. These days when there's just no telling what's in the food you dump from a can, it's very nice to know that your dinner has exactly what you put in it and nothing else.
It's also a really good size for stewing up a quart of chicken, ham bone, or vegetable stock in only 45minutes. 100% fresh with only what you tossed into the pot and no additives you didn't put there.
And don't worry about all that pressure - these modern models have pressure release features that will blow the seal before they explode like in grandma's day.
If you don't buy dried beans because they're too much trouble - this solves that problem. If you don't like beans because they add not-beans to the can, this solves that too.
Better health, less food waste, and huge cost savings -- it doesn't get much better than that.
