This doesn't have the electric-line finder my more expensive stud finder has, but the expensive brand too often gives false readings in trying to find studs. To eliminate so many holes in the wall, I looked for another product. I liked the reviews of this finder and its simplicity, and although Ace didn't have it in the store, they got it there quickly after my on-line order.
For me, this stud-finder finds the studs.

This thing is awesome. Does just like the other lady said, rub iy across the wall going sideways up or down and it will literally pull your hand to the nearest nail. Holds onto the nail and has a level so that you can make a straight line also. I used it from a friend a couple of weeks ago and have been looking all over my city for it. I now plan on buying these as part of "housewarming" gifts for friends just starting out.

This thing is fantastic, when you get near a nail it nearly pulls out of your hand. As a single woman living in an old condo in which the studs seem to have been slapped in wherever, this thing has been a "wallsaver." Others within this price range gave such poor readings that I was needling my way across the walls before I dared to drill a hole.
