Comments about ACE HARDWARE Ace® Wedge Shape Sanding Sponge:
Do you hate the smell of strong solvents? I do, and especially the fumes of most liquid de-glossers. Now that we have pets in the house, I just won't use such items. But the old painted woodwork can use a fresh coat. What to do? Buy some of these wonderful wedge sanding sponges from ACE! Mist them with water, rub lightly on your woodwork, rinse when they load up, and repeat. Then wipe it all down with a damp microfiber rag. Presto! You now have a de-glossed surface, ready for that fresh coat of paint to grip. This wedge block has an angled side that can be used to get into any small fluted areas or grooves. The sponge really lasts, and does not take a whole lot of pressure to achieve good results. I de-glossed lots of our old painted woodwork this way, and it was fast and easy. No fumes, and the pets can be close by and not even be bothered. Well, not exactly, the dogs DO get bothered that I am paying attention to baseboards and trim and not them. But still... their noses don't get abused... nor does mine. Highly recommend this sanding sponge instead of harsh chemicals.
