Comments about Estwing® Sure-Spit Wedge (E-5):
The extra side wedges on this make it the fastest wedge I've used - use fewer hits to split. However, it mushrooms down to where the side wedges start fairly quickly. I'd like to see it made of harder material. The good design which saves me a lot of work overcomes this one shortcoming. It is the only wedge I buy.
Pros
- Cost good
- Good Value
Cons
- Low Quality
- Too soft material
Best Uses
- Splitting wood
Comments about Estwing® Sure-Spit Wedge (E-5):
The narrow wedge gets into lot and crack started for the wings to blow open
Onece it hits the wings it blows the round wide open and so wide you can keep hammering on it if its still bien hard to finish full split
It does need some serrations up in the area where it transitioning from pure wedge to he fins/wings as it wants to bounce out if the split is still resisting
The material needs to be a bit harder as it take a dent, and its rolling over a bit, I can see that to keep from messing up the maul head, but its just a bit too soft.
Comments about Estwing® Sure-Spit Wedge (E-5):
Appears to be good quality, but does not work significantly better than a normal wedge until driven most of the way into the round. Note that item is not conical the way it looks in the picture, rather it is basically a standard wedge with two "wings sticking out near the top. I will probably grab it before my other wedges, but am not that impressed.
