anytime you can buy a quality tool, do it. this is a quality tool. long reach handles get into the thorns easily and after yrs of use they still make it and can get parts when you need them. I like wood handles, but I am an agressive cutter on multi-floral rose plants and have broken my handles. got replacement parts and kept on going. these loppers are old and work great.
