I wanted to use it for canning (for putting cut up vegetables in). It was thinner construction ~ I thought it was going to be heavier. The folded underside rim of this pan has a sharp edge and could cut you if grabbed the wrong way. I ended up returning it and finding a stainless steel pan the same size that is MUCH heavier and was more money but WELL worth it!
