We have one of these alarms under every sink and toilet, hot water heater, washing machine, and dish washer. Obviously they are not helpful if the leak occurs when we are away from home. But, so far, they have alerted us a couple of times to a leaky sink and dish washer, with no false alerts. They have not failed in the presence of water. The batteries last a long time, but we still test them when we test the smoke detectors.

As a home inspector, I run dishwashers in unfamiliar homes daily. Most work fine but frequently they leak. I place one of these alarms in front of the dishwasher and go about inspecting the rest of the house. If the dishwasher leaks, the siren sounds and I am able to stop the dishwasher and clean up the spill before any damage occurs. They ride around in the back of my truck for several years with no problem.
They have prevented water damage several times for me and I rely on them daily.
The only problem I have is forgetting to pick them up at the end of the inspection.

I have purchased two of these alarms within a years time . Both have failed , give constant false alarms - changed battery -no water on sensor - still false alarms . Spend your money & time on another brand that lasts & actually works .

I used this in my sump pit to alert me if the water level rises above its normal level.This has been a leg saver for me,as basement stairs are very hard for me to climb.I set this to alarm so I can fix or replace pumps before it flows over and onto my finished basement floor.With the flooding and heavy spring rains, it has brought me unmeasurable piece of mind.I plan to purchase more for parents and in-laws.

Originally purchased to put in attic at base of hot water heater. I've now bought more to put behind toilets. It goes off if water ever starts leaking. Only con I see, is that every few years have to remember to check battery to see if it needs to be replaced (doesn't churp when battery going out.) It really does work.
