Am ordering my third. The element on the first one died after eight years. We do about 30-50 lbs at a time, on two smokers, and lump the cleanup times together, then apportion and freeze the results. Fabulous, tender, juicy, and you can play golf while it does the work! No tending required, and faster than a charcoal griller...unless the outside temperature is very chilly. One of mankind's best inventions.

I smoke turkey & chicken. This is my 2nd electric smoker. 1st smoker I bought whenever they frist came out over 10 yrs ago. The 2nd electric smoker is not as good.....the heating element shorter out on me and this second heating element I bought isn't as hot. I have to add 2 hours onto my usual smoking. I live on the Gulf of Mexico so the temperature doesn't effect cooking time that much. Fix the heating element problems and you have a 5 star in my book.

Comments about Brinkmann® Gourmet Electric Smoker/Grill (810-7080-K):
Used it 3 times, each time cooking the meat to perfection. It could not be easier to use. Put water, chips and meat in, plug it in and come back after desired cooking time is met. Very happy with this purchase, and the construction is better than I expected too! It needs a internal temp with it, but I will be adding my own soon enough, just would have been better if it came with one. Not a major complaint though. I will also be modifiy to make the cover fit better and allow less smoke to escape from the cover.

Comments about Brinkmann® Gourmet Electric Smoker/Grill (810-7080-K):
Ok as others, element died in about 1 1/2 years, so if you can find an element cheaply, grab it.. It smokes our homemade deer and wild hog snacking sticks about 25 pounds worth just fine. We don't use it as a grill, can't imagine that would be very good, as a smoker, it's fine. I drilled a hole in the lid and added a thermometer. So, it's not as nice as others, wouldn't take any type of abuse, actually flimsy but it smokes our meats with little worry.

Comments about Brinkmann® Gourmet Electric Smoker/Grill (810-7080-K):
I purchased this as a birthday gift for my brother and he loves it. He has already smoked ribs, pork loin, chicken, turkey and sausage. All have come out wonderfully flavored and look great too. I was worried about electric as I have only used propane but the consistency on the meat was excellent. The smoke ring was not as deep as my Brinkmann 6 burner grill & smoker combo but good enough. This product is a great value play and I may pick one up for myself when I am cooking for larger parties.

Comments about Brinkmann® Gourmet Electric Smoker/Grill (810-7080-K):
I have enjoyed my Brinkman smoker for about 2 years, maybe a dozen loads smoked.
I got sloppy about following the instruction to keep the wood blocks that are the smoke source off of the electric element. When I did that the element got so hot that it shorted out. Lesson learned.
I find hickory imparts a flavor that is too harsh for my taste. Now I use only wood from fruit trees. Have had very good results with plum and apple.
Cleaning up is the biggest hassle. I now do two loads in sequence on the same day and freeze most of the meat to save one cleanup.

Comments about Brinkmann® Gourmet Electric Smoker/Grill (810-7080-K):
I usually smoke a 10-13 lb turkey, but this year you daughter brought home an 18 pounder! Smoking take a long time in the NW as the outside temp this time of year is in the 30's. One does not want the temperature of the turkey to remain in the danger
zone (36 to 120) from the refrigerator to getting done for any longer than necessary due to possible bacteria growth... I solved the problem by putting it in the oven at 350 for two hours, then into the smoker with a pan of HOT WATER for 8 more hours. I also put a pound of bacon on the rack above the turkey so it can continually baste it with the drippings. For smoke, I usually buy a bag of mixed hickory & apple chips then supplement that with my chunks of wood from my own cherry tree.
After the first 6 hours, I drained off the remaining water in the pan to raise the temperature and replaced the bacon with another pound. The extra smoked bacon is great for adding to other dishes - so they tell me. Mine always gets eaten before it can flavor something else.
After the 8th hour, I took the lid off, stuck the thermometer in the thickest part of the thigh and breast ~ exactly 165 degrees. I was very please the plan worked out so well.
Electric sure beats going out every few hours to add more charcoal as I did for the fist few years of smoking.
My BRINKMANN did the job for me.... I was able to control the temp by the amout of water in the pan.

Comments about Brinkmann® Gourmet Electric Smoker/Grill (810-7080-K):
This is our second Brinkmann Electric Smoker - we enjoyed the last one so much that, after 6-7 years, we literally wore it out. We've smoked everything from pork chops to 20lb turkeys on it & are never disappointed. We use it year round & love to create a rub, smoke either a rack of pork or ribs all day & then throw the meat on our regular grill for a few minutes to "crisp it up" ...awesome!
We know that our neighbors sometimes hate us when they can "see the smoke and smell the roast" on one of our cold & sometimes snowy weekends in the middle of a St. Louis Winter.
Over the years we've bought one for our son & each of our four sons-in-law & they love them too! There have been times when several of us were cooking on our individual smokerd to later combine the meats for a particularly large family gathering. Rave reviews all around !!!

Comments about Brinkmann® Gourmet Electric Smoker/Grill (810-7080-K):
This thing is a nightmare. It runs at 350 plus degrees and that is way too hot even for grilling. I cooked 2.5 lbs of baby back ribs in 30 minutes. I followed the instructions ver batum and it is just too hot and you cant turn it down. Smoking anything should take several hours. The ribs tasted like I grilled them and that is NOT what I purchased this for, it goes back on Monday. A REAL smoker should run between 180 and 250 degrees. This thing is NOT a smoker. BTW , the ribs sukked.

Comments about Brinkmann® Gourmet Electric Smoker/Grill (810-7080-K):
I have owned this smoker for about ten years. I use the smoker about 10 - 12 times a year. I live in Minnesota and only use it during the summer months, but I do have a thrermal blanket (accessory) for the smoker and I think I would have good results into the cooler fall months. I got about eight years out of the first element, which I think is pretty good. I replaced the element for $20 and the second one works as good as the first. I know my more experienced BBQ buddies dismiss the electric smoker, but you plug it in and forget it. It maintains a constanct temperature around 225 degrees and does exactly what it's supposed to do. The manual that comes with the smoker is also very helpful with great information for the novice smoker. I have done pork ribs and shoulders with amazing results. The bone in chicken breasts are unbelievable. This year I think I'll give a brisquet a try. My only knock on the unit is it's hard to move around because the base detatches from the body. I would definately (and I have) reccommend this smoker to anyone.

Just got this smoker - free, by the way for opening an Ace VISA Card. Got a 6 lb. pork butt - put it on at noon and had the most delicious, tasteful, tender, wonderful smoked pork ever by 7. So easy to use and fantastically wonderful!!I did add more water after 3 hours (with a hose thru the little door). I marinated it overnight in beer (Bud Lite),vinegar, oil and a package marinade. Then dried it, rubbed mustard all over and some seasoning. SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO Good!! I recommend a wireless meat thermometer - got that at [@] (sorry Ace, you were out) and set it at 170 degrees and it let me know while I was watching my soap when it was done. SOOOOOOO Easy!!! Love it and definately recommend to all.

Comments about Brinkmann® Gourmet Electric Smoker/Grill (810-7080-K):
Brinkmann Gourmet Electric Smoker Unbelievably SimpleThe best Beginner's Smoker & great for the experienced tooThis is the Bomb. Load it with 1 1/2 inches of water/apple juice/beer etc. in the drip pan, put a handful of soaked hickory between the elements, fill the two grills with your meat or poultry plug it in and walk away to join your guests or fix your sides - it does the rest for a full hour it will maintain a perfect temperature as long as you leave the lid on.. At one hour add another handful of soaked hickory through the door and walk away for another hour or until done. For all intents and purposes I smoke for no more than 2 hours and "finish off" the meat in a 195- 210 degree oven wrapped in foil until a meat thermometer indicates its done to falling off the bone perfection. It doesn't get any easier than this. Here is a suggestion that will knock your socks off the first time you try it. Save the drip pan liquid and the drippings from the foil wrapped meat after it has rested. Simmer this mixture for 25 to 30 minutes to sterilize then cool and pour into a container seal and refrigerate. Use this to season greens baked beans or anything you would normally use bacon in as a seasoning. (Baked Beans, Greens, etc.) The smoked flavor is awesome and is best from pork butts but chicken will run a close second, use this in your next batch of Brunswick stew instead of broth. Start with a few table spoonfuls and work up to the degree of flavor you want depending on the dish.I can not think of anything that sells for [$] that will elevate your culinary efforts as much a this Brinkmann Gourmet Electric Smoker will.Hint: Clean the grills and any accessory racks you may use as soon as it has cooled to room temperature. This will be about the same time you'll be harvesting that wonderful smokey mixture from the drip pan You'll find everything will come off much easier using a brush or scrubber sponge at this time.

Nicely smoked foods. Best sure to try cheddar cheese (in a shallow pan for 1hr). It is great on fish (2hr resting on grills for firm fish or on punched foil for delicate).
Carrying it around is a bother since it is 4 pieces vertically.
Need cover since rain will run down the top directly into the unit.

A friend recommended this, and i was skeptical because it was electric, but so glad once I had it! I have smoked in the middle of the night and not worried about it. Plus, it's easy-to-use. The only downside, i have not used it as a grill, as i cannot see it getting hot enough in a short amount of time to make it lucrative. But i have not tried that. However we've smoked turkeys, brisket, chicken, and ribs on it very successfully! Don't take the lid off, and invest in a digital thermometer you can clip to the outside. Even smoke well in rain!

Great smoker and a good value. It also came with some good tips and recipes that I found useful. My only issue was a missing bracket. As I also had 13 extra bolts one has to assume the Brinkmann Company has some inventory issues! A call to the company was not productive in resolving this issue, but a large bolt from the garage solved my problem and had us smoking happily in no time!

I have had my smoker now for about 5 years and it still works great. I have never had a problem with the heating element. I use it 3-4 times a month. The most i have ever had in it at once was around 20lbs of meat. I keep it outside covered year round. It has been blown over several times and shows the nicks and scratches but has never quit working. I have never used it as a grill but I would guess it would do just as good of a job as it does as a smoker. I rarely clean it because I believe some of the flavor comes from the previous uses. I change the lava rocks about every 2-3 months.
Overall, this was one of the best investments I made when i first started grilling.

I agree with all the others that it's a great product at a great price. A big plus is that it's easier than charcoal Smoker to use, cleanup and the water bath lasts a long time without having to refill constantly. Use Liquid Smoke on the meat and you can't tell the difference.

I am on my third season with this smoker. I hate putting it away when the weather turns cold in the fall, but it takes too long to smoke when the nightime temperatures drop. I've done brisket, chicken, pork butts. All are outstanding and I love the fact that I can plug it in and walk away, checking on it periodically with a remote temperature probe. You can make GREAT barbecue without spending a fortune or slaving over coals..........

I think the smoker really works great and the fact that it can be converted into a grill so easily...I have used mine at least 4 to 5 times a month over the past two years...Over the holidays I usually cook 4 to 5 pork roast at the time for friends and relatives...Try this little tip...In the water pan instead of using water try using play sand...add just one cup of water into it and the play sand helps retain the moisture and on smoking for long periods you do not have to worry about the water pan running dry...On one pan of sand I have smoked probably over two months by just keeping the sand stirred and the greased scraped off the top...It really helps keep the meat moist...The only thing I do not like is in cold weather and you put 40 lbs of meat on this smoker it is hard to get the temp up....the heating element is a little weak to me....

I have used the smoker with mesquite wood chunks and I find I don't need any other flavor. My beef butt roasts turn out perfect and I can see just when it is right for me. I have smoked pork ribs, chicken, hot links, hotdogs everything gets compliments. The steam from the water pan keeps everything moist and tender. Thanks.
