Had six of them installed in my house. Had a break in on a slider 30' feet in the air. The bar was no deterrent at all.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

I had one of these years ago, and have been looking for one for a new house forever. Very easy to use, very sturdy, and easy to install. You need a good drill, but that's only b/c the metal is so strong.
