I've broken three pik stiks. The first one was my fault - used it to steady myself when I slipped on some mud. The plastic collar shattered like an egg. Thinking this was an oddity, I bought two more, one for me and one for my wife. After the first day out with them, both were broken. Again, the plastic parts just could not handle it. I truly believe they had been dropped before I bought them but couldn't prove it. However, my Ace Hardware man gladly refunded my money - he is the best!
With the somewhat high cost of this unit, I expected it to last years. If you only use it occasionally, it might last a long time. Still, the plastic housing is brittle and flimsy. The mechanism, however, worked great and can pick up many different objects, both small and large.
I have ordered a much more expensive pick up tool, made in USA out of mostly metal parts. Hope that will handle the work load.

I like this product, but I am not using it as often as I thought I would. Nevertheless, I do not regret the purchase, especially as I bought it on sale at Ace.
The higher than normal price normally would deter me from making this purchase, as other pick and reach tools are less expensive; however, the Pik Stik does have an additional feature the others don't have: a 90 degree rotating grabbing end.
This product is smart just to have on hand when you need to pick something up that is behind furniture or higher/lower than you can reach. I am pretty tall and have back problems occasionally, so I use it to pick up stuff on the floor when I don't want to bend my back. So this product is useful for short, tall, and all those in between.

My daughter is handicapped and she uses it to pickup things she's dropped. I'm a home health provider and use it to sort my laundry and reach up in the cabinets that are too high.
