I received this product free from 3M and it came at the perfect time. Hubby picked up an old, wooden sled at a country auction - it needed some love. I decided to paint the runners but needed to ensure I didn't get any paint on the old, dry wood. It took a while, but I sealed off all of the wood anywhere near the runners with this painter's tape. After 24 hrs, I removed the tape and was very happy to see that there wasn't any bleeding. Only the runners were painted and the wood retained its character. Thank you so much!

This is the first time I have used this product and it has been a very frustrating experience. The two issues I encountered were: 1) Tape kept ripping in a jagged fashion nearly every time I tried to pull a length to apply to the room trim. It would rip off of the roll before I could cleanly tear it off. That necessitated stopping application to use my fingernails to lift the jagged edges left on the roll to once again start with a clean straight edge for the next application. 2) Tape curls very quickly when I pulled a length (I was working in lengths of 8 - 12 inches) and probably 25 percent of the time I was unable to unwind the curl to use that end of the tape. I had to rip that part off and pitch it. The tape does stick well and I'm sure the results will be worthy of a satisfactory rating but the application experience has definitely been sub-par.

Clean tape edge

By Bogie01

Comments about Scotch Blue Painter's Tape with Edge-Block 2in x 60yds:

The main reason for this product is to have a clean line, and no bleed through to the other side off tape. This provides this and will not pull paint from the surface it's placed on. This was very helpful when needing a clean edge between the two paint colors I used in daughters bedroom.

Very Disappointed

By Markitect

Comments about Scotch Blue Painter's Tape with Edge-Block 2in x 60yds:

As I've read in other posts, this tape has a tendency to take paint off drywall (right down to the paper) in LARGE areas when being removed. If drywall is not a recommended surface for this painters tape, a warning should be placed on it. Time to patch and paint the walls now. Terrible product for drywall use.

Disappointing- made a big job even bigger

By Jodie6552

Comments about Scotch Blue Painter's Tape with Edge-Block 2in x 60yds:

My husband and I used this tape on our wood trim/cupboards in our kitchen and family room area. We were very careful in making sure the surfaces were clean, dry and dust free before applying this tape. However, our paint seeped under the tape making a huge mess of our trim work. This tape was also very difficult to remove- tiny bits and pieces are stuck to the trim/paint. I've been using tweezers to try to get a hold of it to remove. The trim in the entire room is now covered in dribbles of dried paint and tiny pieces of blue tape. Now we have the huge task of trying to remove oil based paint from wood. So disappointed.

Not pleased!!

Comments about Scotch Blue Painter's Tape with Edge-Block 2in x 60yds:

I purchased Scotch Blue #2093EL for the first time. I was in the final stages of completing an art cabinet for my daughter, which included numerous colors. I painstakingly put the tape on 4 drawers fronts for her to paint. When the paint was dry, I removed the tape. I noticed that most of the edges had a very thin blue line remaining. The tape is falling apart. What a pain in the butt. I don't know how I am going to remove all of these little pieces of tape. I might have to sand the whole thing and start over. GRRRRHHH!

Comments about Scotch Blue Painter's Tape with Edge-Block 2in x 60yds:

we recently had redone our living room. And this tape was the best for different surfaces. We had painted walls, molding, paneling, and a poly floor. And it work awesome in all the right places. Many thanks for this. I always hated rubbing out tape residue or refixing straight lines! Love you guys!

Comments about Scotch Blue Painter's Tape with Edge-Block 2in x 60yds:

After using this for the first time, I'd never use anything else. It protects baseboards, glass and trim while painting. It doesn't pull up paint and it is excellent and easy to use. I received this as a free sample to try.

disapointed with 3M

By Ratface

from Downeast maine

Comments about Scotch Blue Painter's Tape with Edge-Block 2in x 60yds:

Been painting and varnishing boats professionally for many years and it seems that the blue tape is getting worse and worse. First off it doesn't like to stick to it's self when over lapped. Second it leaves behind some if not most of the adhesive. You might not see this but let a little dust blow around and there is a dirty tape width line. Costs many extra hours of detailing just to clean up that residue. This is especially true on gel-coat but also on and sanded surfaces. If it is not properly cleaned during the detailing it makes for some irate conversations with yacht owners. If taped over sanded surfaces the residue shows very obviously when finish is applied. I'll fed up and finding a new tape supplier.

TERRIBLE PRODUCT

By Cassidee

Comments about Scotch Blue Painter's Tape with Edge-Block 2in x 60yds:

This product ruined all the hard work I put in doing drywall and sanding and painting. It would not come off easily at all. I basically had to scrape it off with a razor blade and screw driver. Removed paint from a corner that had been painted over a year prior. But worse than all of that is that it ruined the finish of my brand new cabinets. The tape peeled the finish right off. I was so upset and cried about it for hours.

Clean-up is lot smoother when using tape to cover trim

By Kitty54

Comments about Scotch Blue Painter's Tape with Edge-Block 2in x 60yds:

After painting interior of our home discovered tape helped paint not going where it wasn't intended to be. Was well worth the time to tape prior to painting. Used a sprayer & once started painting, went fast.

      Comments about Scotch Blue Painter's Tape with Edge-Block 2in x 60yds:

I applied this tape to previously painted interior walls and trim. The walls were slightly-textured, previously-painted wallboard surfaces. The trim was previously painted oak. I found that the tape stretched as I was putting it in place. It therefore pealed off and came loose almost immediately. Even when I took care to prevent stretching, the tape tended to come loose before I could paint. I recommend the original Scotch brand Blue Multi-Surface Painter's tape. I won't buy this newer tape again.
