We purchased this to replace our 30 year old 22.5" Weber Kettle grill which was showing its age. Grill was easy to assemble and it performed flawlessly as our original did. Weber takes the hassles out of year around grilling.
New vs Old Observations...
The one touch cleaning system would be better if paddles rotated past the vent holes in each direction. That would allow for a more complete cleaning of the ash since there is always some left at the very bottom where the paddles meet. Overall the one touch system is still a big improvement over our old grill which had nothing to assist in cleaning.
The old style ash pan with the slotted notches was a better system for securing the pan in place than with the newer style clips. In fact I'm using my old pan on my new grill. The new style just doesn't appear secure especially in a gusty wind.

What a wonderful product! I still have the first 22.5" I bought 20 years ago after getting tired of cheap junk. I bought another 22.5" recently for home so I didn't have to lug it back and forth between home and the Chesapeake Bay in the back of the pickup truck. Except in the coldest part of winter, they are used several times a week.
They make great hamburgers, steaks, pork chops, chicken parts and fillets, salmon fillets (with lemon-pepper and butter), boneless beef short ribs and country style pork ribs. With a little practice, it does a fine job slow-cooking boston butt for pulled pork, spare ribs and baby back ribs, brisket and whole-roasted "beer can" chicken.
I also have a Weber "Smokey Joe" I use as a base for the charcoal chimney, grilling on camping trips, and when I'm grilling just for myself. It sears a bit better than its big brother, and uses less charcoal, but otherwise the 22.5" is the KING!

The Weber kettle grills are the best grills ever designed. I always place my charcoal at the backside of the grill and with the round cooking grate it is easy to load up your food and cook right over the coals and then just spin the whole grate to cook indirectly or vice versa. I like to cook ribs or pork shoulder (with some soaked wood chips added to coals) indirectly on low heat until last few minutes and then spin the grill to crisp them up right over the coals.

I am now going to get my 4th in 26 years of living in Japan. Probably should have asks about the ten year warranty, but I did not cover it to stop rain. Too hot to cover after eating, and just no time after that when doing dishes. I use really hot Japanese Charcoal. Took a lot of practice to know how to use it, but the ash is minimal and the flavor is ten times better than American Charcoal. Marinade some pork or chicken over night in a Japanese marinade sauce and you will flip out at the flavor of indirect cooking. Going to get another one for my restaurant business. Superb.

I have been cooking on Weber 22&1/2 in grills for about 10 years. Cooking the Thanksgiving Turkey has become a family tradition. Through direct or indirect cooking I find I can cook almost anything. I have two Weber Grills. I have put thermometers in the lids (about $8 each) which I find helps me know how to adjust the air or add more charcoal. I highly recommend a Weber cookbook to go with the grills. Face it, they have got to be good to sell their grills. Love Weber Kettle Grills.

I received this grill as a birthday gift in July and have been happily using it ever since, weather permitting.
The ash catcher is very handy, and makes cleaning the grill not such a messy venture. My husband and I love the large grilling surface and the spacious lid. A whole chicken is easily cooked using the indirect heating method. Ribs cook nicely this way, also.
At the moment, I cannot think of any drawbacks. Even the assembly was quick and easy.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

This is my second weber, after I purchase one 7 years ago. I love this grill and have cooked fish, steaks, turkeys, chicken, corn, vegetables, just say everything. I love that you can relax and know how the weber cooks, everytime. Gas is to fast and does not have the favor as charcoal.
