I have never been much of a bird watcher, but my last trip to Ace I saw this bag and bought it to help birds through rough winter. First day I thought that there was somethig wrong with the feeder since I had not seen any birds. My husband was joking: it has been 20-30 yrs since anyone fed them. Next morning I woke up to a surprise. We have male and female woodpecker, cardinal, blue jay and many other smaller birds of different types that I have not seen before. At one time I counted 10 of them. The only minus is that I may need another bag or two next week.

Comments about ACE HARDWARE Ace Wild Bird Food:
We go through about a bag a week using 4 different feeders. It attracts quite a variety of our feathered friends, mostly English sparrows, but a good number of red face finches along with morning, white wing and miniature Inca doves. So far no really colorful birds such as cardinals, yellow finches, etc yet but we're waiting.
My only complaint would be the pieces of cracked corn tends to be too big for the average song bird to consume, this includes the larger morning and white wing doves. Pigeons shouldn't have any trouble with the corn but thankfully we don't have them visiting our feeders.
I wait till it goes on sale then buy several bags at once. Stores very well in a dry cool garage.

In early 2011 this product was on sale for [$]. We love to put out seed and see 15 doves regularly, a record of around 60. But at this price we must stop feeding them. This has become more of a luxury item now!

A few years back a pair of Ring Neck Turtle Doves showed up (Colorado?!) and I couldn't stand watching them try to forage in the road so I started buying this seed for them and they have done very well. The winter Oregon and Gray Juncos love it!

We've bought much more expensive brands only to find this attracts the same birds for far less the cost. We add a little sunflower seed to the mix that we buy seperately. It works out to be a great bargain, and we have a variety of birds visit our backyard daily.

Comments about ACE HARDWARE Ace Wild Bird Food:
I purchased this product for two elderly neighbors and they are very happy with the birds that are attracted. Sparrows and nuthatches clean up what the larger birds leave both in the feeder and on the ground. Prior to the black bird migration, the birds most attracted were cardinals, nuthatches and sparrows. Now, they have to compete with redwinged blackbirds, starlings, grackles, and cowbirds.
If you want to attract special breeds, get something else. If you just like watching birds and would like to help all species through the winter and have plenty of activity to watch. This is a good alternative and very reasonably priced.

Love this Product here in the Northwest, the Smaller Bird's can't eat the Corn, but send it out on the Ground for my Squirrel's to Eat, and they just love this. So I feed both my Bird and Squirrel's with one Item.

Comments about ACE HARDWARE Ace Wild Bird Food:
I find the seed to be less than top grade. The past 4 bags have contained a lot of small white worms as well as a cob web effect on the inside of the bags. I hope this is not harmful to the birds. Other wise I buy max quanties allowed when there is a big sale going on. I make bird feeders for fun and keep expermenting with different types. Thanks Ace for the special sales you do have on the bird seed.
