I've had mine for 5 years and it's in perfect shape, outside in California at least 10 months of the year. It doesn't take up much room, but holds lots! It is even cute in a retro kind of way. My husband has some kind of sentimental attachment to it, and even wants to hang clothes on it. It's saved us way more money, by not using the dryer, than we paid for it.

The first dryer I used lasted less than 1 year. I returned it to the store and was given a new one. The second one lasted 1 1/2 years and is now unusable as the plastic connectors to the steel pole also have broken. The dryer was always outdoors, never collapsed. I feel the workmanship is defective and am looking for a better quality replacement.

Comments about BUTTS Sunline® Umbrella Style Clothes Dryer (1600):
For the price, this is a great product. I have use mine for over four years, and I did experience the problem with it collapsing under a heavy load or very windy day--I live in central Oklahoma and the wind blows all the time. I just slipped a bolt in above the clip and it holds up fine. I slip it back out again when I want to fold it up. Maybe some of the reviewers who had a problem with this model need to pony up and buy one of the $200 jobs I see online. This is the rock-bottom cheapest model that I have found, and has paid for itself many times over, besides the benefit of being green and the wonderful smell of your laundry when you bring it inside. Plus, as one reviewer said, it is retro and takes me back to helping my grandma hang up clothes--doesn't even seem like a chore!

Comments about BUTTS Sunline® Umbrella Style Clothes Dryer (1600):
I have owned 3 of these but they are not worth the price. They always brake so easily. I wish it would hold up though because I love how useful it is. The thing that brakes on it is the little hook thing that keeps it up. It is made with plastic and either falls down inside or brakes off. Very upsetting, especially when there are clothes on it!

I have been using my Sunline Clothes Dryer for over a month now and I am very happy with the product. It was easy to install and is easy to take down when not in use.
We have three children, all are swimmers, and this clothes dryer has been put to the weight test with a full load of beach towels and is still standing.

Comments about BUTTS Sunline® Umbrella Style Clothes Dryer (1600):
Have had this clothesline for nearly 6 years. Outside all year round in Florida very close to the beach. Had an issue with the plastic clip not holding the line up, but I put a hose clamp (adjustable) in place of the plastic clip. The pole finally gave way due to rust at the ground level so I am headed out to get another one.
I have recommended this product to many people. I absolutley love it. I can hang multiple loads on it at the same time and still have room for more.

Comments about BUTTS Sunline® Umbrella Style Clothes Dryer (1600):
It was simple to set up. I used a posthole digger to dig a hole, quick concrete to fill the hole around the plastic sleeve the pole sits in. I let it dry for a day and it works perfectly.

I went from this product to the straight lined pull out one and kick myself for not buying this again. oh yeh we moved. I used this for EVERYTHING and yes you must balance it, common sense says if one side is too heavy something is not right. If they have changed it and it is the plastic ring breaking, but you still loved it i would suggest buying a one dollar item to fix it - get an adjustable hose clamp slip it over it and tighten with a screw driver (I love these things they fix many issues)kinda like duct tape. I am reading these comments because I am buying a new one I miss it that much and yes they must be set in quickcrete in the ground and pull out in the winter, I actually take mine out after each use, and I tighten the lines about every other year.

Comments about BUTTS Sunline® Umbrella Style Clothes Dryer (1600):
My son and I put this up a few years ago... we use Quikrete to put it in the ground... I just remove the clothes line umbrella and put it away inside in the winter... and cover the pole that sticks up.. with a solar light... so no one gets hurt. I use it all the time in good weather.
Some people may not be securing it in the ground... like my neighbor who bought three before she talked to me.. lol
And also so what if the ropes loosen.. just tighten and cut them... like our moms and dads did with the regular ones.

Comments about BUTTS Sunline® Umbrella Style Clothes Dryer (1600):
This was the second of these I purchased, the first one I bought at ACE lasted over 8 years. I have been line drying our clothes for over 25 years. I live on the Central Coast of California, where the afternoon wind blows every day. The unit remains outside always, and I've hung everything from sheets to jeans to towels. It has more than paid for itself over the years. My clothes dry fresh, it's good for the environment and I save money. Added plus, getting outside in the morning to greet the day, and a bit of exercise as well. :)

Comments about BUTTS Sunline® Umbrella Style Clothes Dryer (1600):
I got this clothesline at the end of the summer and it worked great then and for the whole following summer. It seemed to hold up very well with several loads of laundry, including towels, and I loved it. Then at the beginning of this season I noticed that the line was getting loose and that clothes were sagging and then after the third use it suddenly buckled and one of the rods just snapped, then the whole thing collapsed-with all my wet clothes still attached!
I would not recommend this product, as the workmanship and/or materials seem inferior and I am now looking for something more durable.

Several months ago I read all the reviews and bought this dryer anyway. I don't know why some people have such trouble with this item. If you distribute the weight evenly around the arms it works just great. I'm glad I ignored all the negativity and got it anyway. I couldn't be happier.

Comments about BUTTS Sunline® Umbrella Style Clothes Dryer (1600):
I used one of these for about three years. Then, just the other day, the black plastic ring around it just fell in half. Then a few minutes after that, the rest of it split into quarters. I guess it was dry rotted? Despite all that, the lines are still good and holding the broken pieces together. Go figure.

Comments about BUTTS Sunline® Umbrella Style Clothes Dryer (1600):
I have had 3 or 4 of these in the past year and a half. All have collapsed - the metal arms are not strong enough and I don't hang anything heavier than towels on it - I even space them around all 4 sides to "balance" it. Many years ago I had one that stayed out year round and it was a real workhorse - eventually the plastic pins snapped and that was that. I could even hang heavy wet throw rugs or comforter on it. I should have never purchased the second one of these but choices outside of the traditional 2 post dryers are SO limited.

This has saved us so much money. I put the wet laundry out in the morning, my husband brings it in at night.
If you put your clothes in the dryer for 5 minutes before you hang them, they do not dry stiff, and they smell so fresh.

Have one for many years. Like it very much. But lately the 2 black circles that holds the arms together around the pole broke. Saved a lot on electric bill. I wish we could buy this part only so I could fix it and save now on having to buy a new one.

Comments about BUTTS Sunline® Umbrella Style Clothes Dryer (1600):
I have found this to be extremely easy to use. Mine has lasted well over a year (as has my friend's who has had hers longer than I have). I like that it spins and that you can remove it when company comes over. And it keeps clothes in one location instead of spread across the yard on one line. My only complaint is that the plastic lines sometimes sag, but I just retie the knots and it works fine again.
