LOW COST. ACCURATE TEMP FOR JUDGING DONE WELLNESS OF COOKED MEAT. SINCE USING I NO LONGER HAVE OVER AND/OR UNDER COOKED FOOD.

This MAY be dishwasher safe, but the one I bought last week was not waterproof. I set it in the used roasting pan, which was soaking before washing. When I went to wash the thermometer, water was inside the dial. I took it back to the store for a refund. I had an earlier Taylor meat thermometer, which never leaked but was not reliable any more, so I thought the new Taylor would be OK.
Also, the "Test" position marked on the dial appears to be at 212º, but the package makes no mention of this feature and how to test the unit.
