Was looking to replace a 5-prong fire grate that would not keep fires lit, thus causing smokey backdrafts coming into the house. After reading on-line that this style grate was better at keeping the embers close and smoke to a minimum, I found Ace's to be the best priced and well made. I had it shipped to my local store on Grand, whose staff is incredibly helpful, and pick-up was very easy.
Now after nearly a month, I can say this was a great buy and so much better than the last one. I burn my fires pretty hot and it's held up very well so far...

This is the perfect size for our fireplace. Our previous one sat lower and only had raised sides on the front and back. This one has 4 raised sides and the legs allow great airflow to keep the fire burning nicely.

Most grates I looked at have no structure to the base, so difficult to use any type of kindling unless laid directly on the bottom of the fireplace. This grate isn't like that. Love that I can lay kindling on it and it doesn't fall through.
Cast iron is heavy duty. Haven't had a huge fire in the fireplace, but am expecting the cast iron to hold up better than the aluminum (that's what they felt like) ones.
Highly recommend! Wish I could take the grate out of my interior fireplace and put one of these in.

This heavy duty grate holds a large quantity of wood safely, allows full air circulation and actually looks nice in the fireplace. The grate we had previously was falling apart and smoke would fill the house. Not safe. We are very happy with the product and would recommend it to anyone.
