Bought 2; bought 2 more. Works great, quiet enough to hear a TV at a comfortable volume, energy efficient, automatic shutoff if knocked over, optional fan switch for summer and winter to circulate cool or warm air, and it has a thermostat to adjust the heat so the heater cycles. Heats a 20'x16' room to 'cozy' in about 10 minutes and keeps it that way until it is turned off or tips over.
To clean: Remove dust from the fan blades with a gas station air hose or a can of compressed air used to clean keyboards and computer componants. Quick Fix/Reset: IF the heater turns itself off unexpectedly and refuses to behave, unplug the heater and use a 5/16th's hexagonal socket wrench to turn each of the 2 white buttons on the back of the heater. Turn each white button 1/8" clockwise. Doing this will reset the heater and it should run perfectly again. If the heater still fails to behave, tweak the white buttons a little more clockwise. Remember to plug the heater in again before using it.

I have a finished basement, but the room my kids play it was alwasy cold, i looked up online for heating fans and i came across this unit, i read all the reviews and wanted to give it a try for myself, I have no regrets buying this unit, after one hour of this unit being put to work it worked wonders the room was nice and cozy and the kids were able to play more comfortably..Its only been the second day i used it so far so good....

We use our Vornado heaters in craft rooms, office, bedrooms, den, and near pets' beds in cold weather. The Vornados have lowered our heating bills substantially and create a warm, cozy feel to rooms day and night. Easy access to the controls, their small footprint, and the quiet heating element and fan are ideal qualities in these heaters. The heaters turn off automatically when tipped, so that safety feature is appreciated. Cool to the touch and the built-in handle make it easy to move. There is a major concern, though, after a year's use of these heaters. Dust accumulates inside the fan where a vacuum cannot reach it. The dust interferes with the operation of the heater/fans and the heaters will not function. To get the heaters operational, the housing has to be unscrewed and the dust blown out with a can of aerosol air at pressure or vacuumed. Once the dust is removed and the housing screwed back on, the Vornados are good-to-go for another year.

Vornado Air Circulation Systems Inc[...] purchased a Vornado Vortex VH2 Heater from ACE HARDWARE in 2006 used it for six weeks and than again for 10 weeks in 2007. That is a total of four month. This year the fan wouldn't start even though the heater was heating up. I opened the unit to examine the problem and here is what I found:The dust which enters the unit through its sides had accumulated around the shaft and worked its way into the motor housing where it accumulated at the end of the shaft. The shaft has bout a 1/4 " clearance that is you can push it back and forth by that much. Now the first 1/8" the propeller will rotate freely but when you push it all the way in it has so much resistance that it no longer turns but with force. Thus if I pull the propeller all the way forward and than tip the whole unit forward to hold the propeller in that position the fan will work fine. As soon as I tip the unit back to its normal position the propeller freezes.My conclusion: Since the unit must have the air you can not add any kind of filtering thus the dust with time will eventually bring the fan to a halt. I consider this a design problem and every owner will incur this problem depending on how much dust accumulates and whenRecommendation: I like the way the fan works when it works but Don't buy it!

I started out buying one of these - I now have bought 3 and sent one to my mother who loved it so much I sent her another one. I am going to the store tonight to buy another (my 5th) and so you can see I like them! They are great for adding a little heat in rooms that need just a little more warmth. These units run with a quiet fan and two heat temps but they are very low and don't supply loads of heat like the units that glow red hot and can burn anything on them. These use low heat settings and so they are more for supplemental heat and not as the only heat source in a room. If it is a room that gets no colder than about 40 deg this unit would be all you need. They are great!!
