Broken Frame. Cannot Trust!!!

By ShiJes

Comments about COMMAND 1029650 Command Large Picture Hanging Strips (17206):

Used 4 Large sets to hang a picture frame that weighed less than a gallon of milk. Just fell off the wall this morning completely breaking the frame. Luckily none of my children were nearby. Will never use this product again. The picture had hung there with the strips for close to a year.

So disappointed.

By Skylarf

from Stayner, ON, Canada

Comments about COMMAND 1029650 Command Large Picture Hanging Strips (17206):

I used the strips to hang my grandchildren's initials on the wall. I am moving but could only get one letter off the wall without damaging the wall. Two of the letters ripped the wall board & I now have 3 letters stuck on so tight I can't get them off. I will try getting dental floss behind them to release them but I still have a wall to fix. I am more than a little annoyed.

Keep trying - you'll get it right some day

By mahar

Comments about COMMAND 1029650 Command Large Picture Hanging Strips (17206):

We thought we hit the jackpot. Hung 2 canvas wrapped print photos. We used your 16lb strips to be sure. They were less than a pound each. The smaller one fell so we put it back up only to discover the sticky stuff was gone. We were glad it wasn't a glass frame. Maybe you should put an expiration date for the glue.

use dental floss. don't try to pull the strip if you've broken it. just slide the floss between the adhesive and the wall.

Beautiful picture fell off the wall

By Gail J

from Charleston, SC, United States

Comments about COMMAND 1029650 Command Large Picture Hanging Strips (17206):

I had a lovely picture with a command hook secured on dry wall. It crashed off the wall and broke the gorgeous frame and glass into millions of pieces. It chipped off a piece of the travertine hearth as well... Then I tried the command velcro with 4 strips and it would not hold... What should I do now?? I had to have it reframed and put the plastic instead of glass and that would not hold with the velcro.

Comments about COMMAND 1029650 Command Large Picture Hanging Strips (17206):

I have used Command products for several years. My husband thinks I'm nuts, but he also likes not having to fill nail holes when he paints. I have 6 pictures, ranging from large to small, over our bed, and in 2 years not even the smallest one has fallen off.

Disappointed

By Danielle86

from Adelaide, South Australia, Australia

Comments about COMMAND 1029650 Command Large Picture Hanging Strips (17206):

I have used this product (standard adhesive strips) for years and haven't normally had a problem, however i have just moved in to a new rental property and several pictures have fallen off the wall. Ive bought all sorts of different shapes and sizes and read carefully what is suitable for size and weight. I always make sure the wall is clean and have used several strips to redo it but it keeps happening. If it was my own house I'd just use normal hooks but i don't have that option as i am renting. Frustrated that nothing stays put. Any other suggestions?

Not good for large frames

By zena0214

from Staten Island, NY, United States

Comments about COMMAND 1029650 Command Large Picture Hanging Strips (17206):

I bought several sets of these hook & loop strips for hanging poster frames in my son's room. They only worked for the smallest and lightest frames. (Less than 22x36 plastic) Eventhough I used mutliple sets (as recommemded) for a frame that weighed no more than 5 lbs it fell off the door after only 4 days and the frame broke. The adhesive side stayed on the door but all except one gave away from the frame. The hooks stayed together but the adhesive pulled off.

Burn or throw away your hard earned money, anything is of more use than this product. Only use, if you have a particular dislike for the photo you intend to hang, if "smashed on floor" is your desired look please see picture for full details of correct place for this product

Worked Perfectly for me despite other reviews

By CMTorie

from Madera, CA, United States

Comments about COMMAND 1029650 Command Large Picture Hanging Strips (17206):

I was very worried given other reviews but it worked perfectly for me. I followed the directions exactly, cleaned wall with rubbing alcohol, applied strip, let set overnight before hanging item, and hung item the next morning. I found that it was easier to attach the two pieces together (ie. the photo to the wall) by simply using the side of my fist as a mallet and simply and firmly "popping" the picture on the wall. You can literally hear it "snap" into place. My items were up for one month (Christmas) and nothing fell. When removing, I started with the bottom of my photo and angled it up towards the ceiling, which slowly released the two velcro pieces. After that I carefully and slowly pulled the sticky part STRAIGHT DOWN until it was completely removed from the wall. I used about 30 total and not a single problem. Will be using these every Christmas. (sorry pictures are crooked because I took them down, then threw them back up quickly for a picture)

Do not use of fresh painted and plastered walls

By Tealady21

Comments about COMMAND 1029650 Command Large Picture Hanging Strips (17206):

I bought this product after seeing the adverts and wanted to make a feature wall of all my family photos, so rather the hammering loads of nails into my newly plastered living room I thought these would be perfect.... How mistaken was I. They took all the paint off the wall and have needed to re paint. I will not be using these products again

Disappointed

By Kitty1234

from Clearfield, PA, United States

Comments about COMMAND 1029650 Command Large Picture Hanging Strips (17206):

I bought command strips to hang pictures in my apartment. I am getting ready to move to a new place so I began taking pictures off the wall. To my disappointment the strips left bubbles on the walls, and even tore the paint off in 3 places, despite moving them as per the instructions. Thanks to the command strips I will be responsible for damages to the wall. Would not buy this product again!

Doesn't work

By Enaof6

from Waverly, TN, United States

Comments about COMMAND 1029650 Command Large Picture Hanging Strips (17206):

I bought these when I rearranged my living room. I purchased several packs to hang all my family pictures. I had trouble with 2 frames that fell quickly after putting them up. The frames and glass were fine so I replaced the strips on the frame since they didn't stick at all. Less than 6 hours later I had another picture fall off the wall. The frame or glass did not break but the frame did damage my brand new gas fireplace mantel (as in installed that day). I am very unhappy that I can not trust this product to hold very light frames. These frames probably weigh less than a pound. I am also very unhappy that I spend 1200 on a now damaged gas fireplace.

Commercial Use

By BCOSEYatHome

from Los Angeles, CA, United States

Comments about COMMAND 1029650 Command Large Picture Hanging Strips (17206):

I'm an interior designer on staff with a commercial entity. Our end-users are somewhat transient between multiple leased office site, so the use of the hanging strips is preferred over multiple holes for various changes in décor, etc. I have learned to follow the directions "to the letter" and when applicable, because of weight, use multiple hanging strips. My best result for a damage-free wall, is to apply the strips with the pull tab at the bottom. When its time to remove, be sure you're pulling downward as close to the wall as possible, rather slowly. When following these steps, I have drastically reduced the cost to repair & repaint walls.

Not my favorite

By MLT82

from Colorado Springs, CO, United States

Comments about COMMAND 1029650 Command Large Picture Hanging Strips (17206):

I chose this product because where I'm living at does not allow nails in the walls. We are only allowed thumb tacs. After seeing a commercial and reading a few reviews I decided to use this product to hang two different pictures. After reading AND following the instructions, I felt that I would've been better off hammering nails into the wall. Not only was it more of a pain to align the pictures to the adhesive on the wall but my pictures would only stay up for short periods of time. I came home a couple different times to my pictures not all my walls. Luckily, I hung the pictures in locations where they would only have a short drop such as above a desk or bed. It seemed that this would happen about every three weeks or so. Now that I am moving, I had to remove the frames and the adhesive attached to the walls. Most of the strips came off clean, without damaging the paint. One strip took a small piece of paint with it. But then the last strip, no matter how slow and how carefully I tried, the paint was still lifting with the adhesive strip. I am very disappointed in the overall product.

Horrible took the paint right off my wall.

By abby

from Warwick, RI, United States

Comments about COMMAND 1029650 Command Large Picture Hanging Strips (17206):

Once again so disappointed in a 3m product and once again it has done damage to my house. my first problem was with the scotch blue painters tape taking the paint off my wall.. and now your command strips did the same thing. And before you go and try to blame me, I read the instructions and did step by step what they said to do and the product I hung was well within the weight limit. Do not buy these "no damage" strips, I would rather have a small hole in the wall from a nail then any of these 3 marks...

Comments about COMMAND 1029650 Command Large Picture Hanging Strips (17206):

When I moved in a new place that the landlord wouldn't allow nails to hang pictures etc I had to try something new even with my very large home interior pictures. I used 4-6 strips on each picture (depending on the size of the pictures) and was very pleased with how well they held up! I wasn't sure at first but I've been using command products ever since!

Disappointing!

By Jenniferf

from Massachusetts, United States

Comments about COMMAND 1029650 Command Large Picture Hanging Strips (17206):

I bought these to hang picture frames in a collage.. I was weary of using this product, concerned that it wouldn't hold.. I went ahead and tried them out because I wanted the frames to stay straight, hate when pictures end up crooked over time. I made sure I bought the strips for the frame sizes and off I went. Well to my disappointment what I was afraid would happen, did! The frames started falling of the wall, shattering on the ground.. I quickly started removing frames that were still attached, these too were about ready to fall! I lost a total of 5 frames, I was very disappointed! Luckily no one was in the room while this happened. I will never use these again, sticking with the old fashion ways and using nails/screws to hang anything in the future.. To top it off these strips are pretty expensive!

Comments about COMMAND 1029650 Command Large Picture Hanging Strips (17206):

I purchased command strips to mount some art/decor at a house that was up for sale but the family had moved out and taken their decor with them. The walls were repaired and freshly repainted. I purchased some framed art and didn't want it up permanently, to be determined by buyer(s). Command strips held even the heavier pieces with no damage to art or walls!

I used them to hold up a bulletin board and they worked great and held the weight as promised. However when I went to remove the bulletin board the velcro didn't release and it tore the paint and texture off the wall making repair and repaint necessary.

Don't waste your money

By Rudy

from Arkadelphia, AR, United States

Comments about COMMAND 1029650 Command Large Picture Hanging Strips (17206):

I hung up a shadow box that my boyfriend gave me for our one year anniversary. He made it himself, so it is very special to me. After I hung it up it fell after only a couple hours. So I added another two command strips and hung it back up. It held up for a couple days then it fell again and this time it broke. Like beyond repair broke. I was so upset but I still used them for things. I replaced the shadow box with a dry erase calendar (thinking maybe the shadow box was too heavy.. and this calendar is light as a feather!) and it fell after a day. I was so confused on why this was happening. I then hung it back up after adding yet another two command strips and it just fell again. Forgot to mention in between the calendar and the shadow box my wall mirror fell and it has 8 of your strips on there. I am so frustrated with these velcro command strips. I went to walmart and this is the only command strip they carry anymore so I can't just switch my products to the ones I used last year that worked perfectly and held up my calendar perfectly. I wouldn't be as mad if they hadn't of broken something that meant a lot to me. I can get over a stupid calendar.... but a shadow box that my boyfriend made for me that I can never replace? No.
