This heater was picked up for me by a friend yesterday when the fan motor on my outdoor HVAC unit went out. It did the job admirably, keeping me warm through the night when the temps dropped down to the 20's. I was a bit sceptical of this product when I read the review on here about the cord overheating (there's an average of two stories a night on the local news about house fires caused by space heaters), so I've been monitoring it carefully. The cord and the unit itself are just fine. It does say in the manual to 1) ensure the prongs fit tightly - loose prong/receptacle fits are hazardous and 2) to plug it *directly* into the wall outlet, not using any kind of extension cord or power strip. I can't vouche for longevity since I've only had it a day now, but it's not loud at all (just a quiet, dull humming - no loud whirring or anything like that), and it puts out good heat. You could use it warm a small room, or keep an area of a larger room comfortable, allowing you to lower your thermostate house-wide. The remote is handy, and the oscillating feature is a nice touch. All in all, for [$] this a great product, one I wish I had gotten before my pump went out just to use for more comfort on cold nights. I'll continue to use this even after my HVAC unit is fixed.

While waiting for our pellet stove to be professionally cleaned, we used this unit to heat our bedroom. We set it to 75 degrees and it consistantly turned off after only a few minutes of use. The first night it turned off after we were asleep, so I didn't know it had overheated. The second night, when it shut off, I found instructions on the back of the unit describing this overheating problem. It failed to work even after it was unplugged as it had instructed us. Needless to say it was a cold night and this unit did not perform as it should have. Thankfully the unit shut off before it caught on fire like some of the reviews I've read for the unit!

Comments about Lasko Ceramic Heater Tower (751320):
This heater has a very powerful fan on it so it's quick to warm up a room & much faster than other heaters. As for electrical plugs getting hot, mine got hot so I put in new plugs ($4 construction electrical plugs) & it's fine. Did this for two rooms. If the cord gets hot consider putting in new electrical plugs. I would prefer there were temperature settings between 65 & 70, but you must choose one. It can be drafty sometimes with it's strong fan, but it also warms the other rooms. It's a great heater, just check the cord at the plug to make sure it doesn't get hot & if it does get a new plug.

Comments about Lasko Ceramic Heater Tower (751320):
This is the third heater I have bought in a week's time after returning two inefficient and more expensive heaters. This Lasko heats up the room very fast. Just leave it on maximum when you turn it on to remove the cold fast. Then reduce to lower and/or most comfortable heating temperature you prefer. It does an excellent job and circulates efficiently. At last, I found a heater that really works and at a very reasonable price! More than worth the money and great for a large living area.

Comments about Lasko Ceramic Heater Tower (751320):
We bought 3 of these heaters last year ( 2 as gifts and 1 for ourselves). My daughters heater caught fire and luckily she was home to avoid a drastic situation. We thought either something may have gotten against it or perhaps it just shorted out inside. Never thought much more about it as she just threw it away. However last week the unit I bought for myself also got hot at the cord and started to melt at the prongs. It also started to burn out the socket in my wall which now needs replaced. My son now refuses to use his heater at all. Please be careful with this unit...

Comments about Lasko Ceramic Heater Tower (751320):
I got this because my home office is at the end of the HVAC supply and it would be ten degrees colder than every other room in the house. It heats very quickly and works fine in my office (400 sf) but I don't think it would heat the entire room, thus 4 stars. I have it next to me and it's extremely quiet and I've had it for over a week, so I don't know what the other reviewer is talking about.

YOU CAN HAVE IT ON FOR A HOUR OR LESS IN THE LIVING ROOM AND WOULD LIKE TO MOVE IT TO THE BEDROOM AND YOUR NOT ABLE TO TURN IT BACK ON. WHEN THE POWER STOP'S IT TAKES HOURS OF IT BEING UN-PLUGED TO START AGAIN. JUST WHEN YOU THINK IT WORKS GREAT YOUR STUCK IN THE COLD.

Mine burned out after about a year and a half, using it only in winter months. It turns on 5 minutes, then stops and won't turn back on unless it's unplugged for a long time. When I tried to open it, they use triangle screws that are next-to-impossible to remove. [...]

I've got two of these heaters. My furnace does not run during the day (yes, I've turned the thermostat down). I've tracked my energy costs and I'm positive I'm saving $100 a month during the cold winter months compaired to gas (elec. is less expensive here). The two heaters keep our living area quite comfortable. They are very easy to move to another location if you want to.

I bought a Holmes brand yesterday and returned it today, didn't put out heat, went to my local Ace Hardware store today and bought this one as we have two at the place I work. This heater works terrific, you can feel the heat from 5 feet away. I mainly bought it to put by my recliner to stay warmer and I tell you it definately keeps me warm, I keep it on low heat and it's plenty warm. I wouldn't buy anything else. I may just go buy another one to put in my computer room.

I live in S.Francisco in an 1800 s.f. 1924 flat with h'wd floors & lathe & plaster walls & hi celing)gs. It's DAMP (I'm talking 80% humidity, sometimes more, according to my thermometer/humidity reader. Avg temp here for days is 50-70...but my flat office b.r, even on a day that's 70 it will be 58-60 degrees. This little heater is a powerhouse. I've tried parabolic "dish" heaters, oil-filled and Bionaire's oscillating tower fan heater. Oil -filled would be fine it it had a fan. Parabolic heats what's RIGHT IN FRONT of it - heat doesn't "spread" at all. This Lasko heats a rm quickly, DRIES IT OUT, too and it's QUIET. Bionaire is twice as loud, "industrial" sound. THis Lasko is like a soft "white noise" whisper. LIke all the other ones, though, it won't heat a large space. I use it in my b.r. (about 16 ft X 14 ft) or office. Best to turn on the forced air, get it warm (ish), then use this to supplement. Wonder if the larger version of this heats a larger space???

I got this little heater to heat the front room of my apartment, and found it really works great. good enough that
I can use the low setting after about a couple of hours on high.
I like the automatic thermostat that starts it all by itself when it get below set mark...better than alot of more expensive
models...
