We bought this item to replace a dead unit. Works leaps and bounds better than the other unit EVER did, while costing about half of the other unit. It is super quiet when recharging. We paid to have our local plumber install it. There was existing plumbing but we have 3/8 and not 1/2 inch pipes, so it's always tricky installing new appliances. Great unit we have been using for about a month now.

I owned the original WaterBoss softener for over 15 years, and it was practically flawless until the resin decomposed. When it was time to get a new softener, I compared this with other DIY and big-name systems, and this had the right combination of features and price.
I had since switched to city water, and this was the logical choice. It really takes out the chlorine smell and taste. We even stopped needing to use fabric softener.

this is the 'city' model...and it does very well at not only softening the water, but filtering too....no clorine smell/taste anymore...dishwasher actually leaves things sparkling without additives...

Great Unit, not only does it soften the water but it has a built in self cleaning sediment filter and a self cleaning carbon filter, so not only is my water soft now but the stink and odor is gone too!
