I have had it on the dormer roof of my cape for 10 years now. I loathed getting way up there to remove all the leaves several times a year. I just checked on it last week and it's still as clean as the day it was installed. I have planned on putting in the rest of my gutters, but just have not gotten around to it. Besides, it's easy for me to use my small ladder to reach all the others in about 10 minutes, so my motivation is low.
Many here have criticized the product price. If you liken this to furniture or a bed, then you understand why the price is what it is. They cannot stay in business if you never buy the product again. This allows them to continue to give you a quality product and still maintain a profit margin to stay in business. I don't like it, but I understand it.
I live in upstate NY and primarily have maples and walnuts in my yard. If that is your type of local foliage, you cannot go wrong with this stuff. Plus the new "Pro" stuff is supposed to be improved from the stuff I have, so have at it!

This product works great for awhile. It doesn't freeze up and removes ice dams in the winter, however, leaves will settle on the gutter and eventually either blows off or will need to be blown off manually. If you have oak trees, the foam will eventually cause the sediment of the oak tree to build up until water will not be able to penetrate. Also, small particles will penetrate through the foam leaving a black sludge in the gutter. So eventually, the gutter foam has to be removed after a few years.

We put on a new roof two years ago and the roofer recommended this, he said it was expensive but did not give an estimate. BIG mistake. We live in a wood lot so much debris from trees. BIG mistake. Everything sticks in it. Had a large hail storm and the sand from the shingles went through and sat in the gutter blocking the water flow. I am slowly removing it. What a waste of good money. Right now I am looking at a very high section, which I cant get to, the leaves are piled on it.

I am a roofer by trade and thought this was a great product, NOT! It collects all types of tree debris on top of it due to being flat and being open celled foam. Before one season it had accumulated leaves, small limbs, and sweet gum balls. I thought maybe a good rain would wash it clean, NOT!!! We had 5 inches of heavy rain and it still sits on top making it appear my gutters are full 100% of the time. Pollen also clogs it up so water overruns part of it making a mess at the front of the garage and causing water to run down the side of the house and causing stains. Let's just say I threw alot of money out the door!!!!!!! I have just removed it and will go back to cleaning them three times a year.

Use to keep leaves/debris out of gutters. Bought previously and installed in second story to avoid having to clean from roof and/or rent 28 foot ladder. Due to expense, broke up purchase into two segments and waited for one-time coupon on-line that saved me 15% this time to do first story gutters. Product is bascially invisible from the street or back yard. Goes in fairly easily. Has performed well so far (second story segment) with only item that smaller leaves (Aspen) catch in the top of the product. Overall I hope to avoid going up on my roof several times a year and only go up once a year to inspect it. Saves time and improves safety for a guy over 60.

I purchased the GutterStuff Pro version of this product in the Summer of 2010. I had new gutters installed & at the same time, the gutter co. installed them for me. There is a major downside to this product. Because GutterStuff lies flat within the gutter, small items (I call them oak tree worms)will stick to the surface & will not wash away. Even more of a problem is that these small objects seem to glue itself to the surface making it almost impossible to clean out. Next Tuesday 6/6/2011 I'm having these inserts removed, my gutters cleaned, and another type of gutter cover installed. This may work great where there are no leaves, but do not make the same mistake I did.

I bought this 2 yrs. ago.It did fine at first but after all the pine neddles fell they became stuck it it.Then all the rain this summer would not go through them. The rain ran over the gutters and into our basement. What a mess we have had.We had to climb on the roof and remove them. They were hard enough to put in but trying to get them out was worse. If you have a hard rain it will not run through. It will only run over the gutters. That was [$] wasted.

Comments about BUILDERS ROOFING SUPPLY Gutter Stuff® Foam Gutter Protection System - 8 Pack:
This product is simply a nice novelty product. I am surprised to read several positive reviews here. This foam is petroleum based which means that the foam shrinks every year. I purchased this product at Ace 2 years ago. The product has shrunk so much that I have 2 1/2" gaps every 4 feet. The foam is so deteriorated and filled with shingle granules that it stopped taking water in many places. During a heavy rain, the water simply pours over the gutters in many different areas and looks like I have a waterfall pouring over the system.
After spending countless hours researching, I have decided to purchase a stainless steel micro-mesh as Consumer Reports suggests. I am not going with Gutter Glove as they recommend because it is much more expensive than they state in the article and I have found several options that seem smarter at a lower cost.
Buyer beware of purchasing these foam guards. They now even advertise to remove the foam annually to rinse the foam with a garden hose and reinstall. What sense does this make to you?

Comments about BUILDERS ROOFING SUPPLY Gutter Stuff® Foam Gutter Protection System - 8 Pack:
I found this to be the best product going for our needs. Its been in our gutters for over 2 years now and have not had a problem. The little maple tree seed "helicopters" stick up but over time they blow off. I think because of it being dark in color "charcoal Grey" it helps in the winter time with snow and ice melting. We're in the process of having a new roof put on and the contractor said if people use a leaf guard that goes under the base course of the shingle is applied the warranty is void. I can kinda understand his point but WHY would you stick something up and under the shingles in the first place? Outstanding product. Reading other reviews I would say that some people with special conditions may NOT be able to use this product but then again if they had done the research before purchase and installation of this product they would have known and not had to write bad reviews for something that was there own negligence................................ You don't buy a car with out doing some investigation do you ?

Good product idea. Way too expensive. Terrible if you have trees. I have a cotton tree over part of my roof, and between the bud, the leaves, and the other things the tree drops these things get covered, and then when they get wet it forms a blanket like shield blocking the pores in the foam. That stops the water from flowing through and into the gutters. If you have trees I say don't waste your money.

We spent hundreds of $$$ on EVERY KIND of plastic and/or metal gutter cover available at [...]. What a waste of money. This is the only thing that has worked. We did our entire house for under $1,000, about 2/3 of what we've already spent elsewhere. Save yourself the trouble and wasted money.... just swallow the price and go for it once! Plastic covers warp in the heat, wind blows the snap-on solid covers (hail damages BOTH of them!), and screens trap everything...you'll still have to clean out the gutters. Not with Gutter Stuff! Our 3 acres have 30 trees, so you can only imagine the 'fun' we've had over the years. No more. THIS IS IT!

At [$] a foot, this is no where near a reasonable price for a foam product that is mass produced. I suspect that no hands touch the product during the manufacturing process, which means they produce it dirt cheap like plastic trash bags and other similiar products.

This is a great product that is very ingenious but holly *$%&# it costs a fortune. Should be 1/2 - 1/4 the price. My house costs about $1000 to do a full install so I'm holding off on doing everything for a while. Since it's new to retail, they are likely trying to cover R&D costs so I hope that once it's more saturated in the market, they are able to bring the investment down.
Keep up the good, quality work but lower the price, that's it.

Comments about BUILDERS ROOFING SUPPLY Gutter Stuff® Foam Gutter Protection System - 8 Pack:
I installed Gutter Stuff just about a year ago (in Autumn 2007) in my problem gutters. Found it at a local Ace Hardware store.
Lots of trees overhang the roof & gutters, causing clogs from the leaf and twig drop. This is really a nightmare because when the gutters clog and overflow, the overflow goes through the deck to a lower level entry. I've had water collect there so hard and fast (normally it can just drain away, but we've had some gullywashers in the last few years!) that it comes under the lower level door. Ruined the carpet and the storm door (moisture got into the chipboard core and warped it).
In this last year, I have had no clogs and no overflow. Formerly, I had to get up and clean out the gutters every 2-3 weeks. Since installing, I've used a blower a couple of times to get rid of excess leaves, but no more of the digging out of compacted rotting leaves. And I can just stand on the deck and casually hold the blowing end of the blower up to the top of the gutter, getting rid of most of what is there easily.
I did the measuring and cutting and a couple of friends helped me with installation, but I could have done it myself. If was just a help that they are taller than I, with a longer reach! :-) (I'm only 5'3")
I'm planning to buy more for a rental property as soon as I get it measured. I'll have that installed by a handyman because I find that roof too high for me. It's the getting up on a ladder that I find difficult. Putting it into the gutters is a breeze. I does help to have someone handing up pieces and making the cuts so you don't have to go up and down so often.

I had this installed over a year ago and I LOVE IT! Absolutely NO PROBLEMS! It handles heavy rains with ease and unlike other types of systems out there, you don't see an ugly gutter "cap" or screen. Also with the gutter caps you have to worry about wasps building a nest under it but not with this stuff since it fills the gutter completely! Leafs and twigs simply blow off with the wind. And the best part about it...No more climbing ladders,Yippee!
