Comments about WOODSTREAM Havahart® CageTrap (1085):
I bought this trap because raccoons were flipping over my lawn looking for grubs. The design is great, but the arm that holds the trap door down is far too weak. I have had 5 escape. They push up on the trap door and bend the hold down arm. Plus the holddown arm anchors are bend out of position. FYI, a few marble size pieces of a snickers candy bar has worked 100% of the time.

Comments about WOODSTREAM Havahart® CageTrap (1085):
We had two occasions when raccoons managed to get into the walls of our house and have babies. Unpleasant noise and smell. My local Ace only had a small trap in stock, but I found this one at their website, and it was shipped to my local store for free. It arrived very quickly, and a coon was caught in a matter of hours! Very easy to set and release, and the coon seemed to have tried everything to get out, even managed to move the trap about 6 inches, but no luck in escaping. Seems very well built in the U.S.A.

Comments about WOODSTREAM Havahart® CageTrap (1085):
Had a neighborhood cat sneak into our garage and an ongoing open-door policy failed to evict the critter. Bought a 1085 after a week or so of playing cat-and-mouse, baited it with a bowl of dry cat food and within a few hours it was Trap: 1 - Cat: 0.
The 1085's trip mechanism is set up so that a medium-sized kitten - let alone a full-grown cat - can apply sufficient pressure to spring the latch.
Once contained, removing the animal then releasing it back into its home territory was a snap.
A normal feline shouldn't be able to break out of this setup. Raccoons may be a different story but they're usually smart enough to stay out of our garage!

Comments about WOODSTREAM Havahart® CageTrap (1085):
An animal like a racoon broke the trap from the inside and escaped. The trapee somehow exerted enough pressure to pop loose the trap door hinge, allowing it to force the door open and escape. The hinge is a thin piece of wire/rod across the top of the door. The hinge is not secured and easily slips back and forth and out of the little retaining holes. This has happened 3 times already. This could be easily fixed by somehow placing a clamp or lock nut on each end of the hinge piece. The only animals I have caught so far are a baby possum and a tom cat. I have more photos of the damaged trap & sent them to the producer, but don't expect much action from their part.
