Standing outside of the house during last winter I did not notice that a little bit of water was left inside of the center pipe that runs to the hose swivel, made from aluminim with a brass fitting swivel fitting for a 1/2 inch hose .Due to the freeze even here in the South the brass fitting was busted.[...]. The manufaturer LEWIS refused to deliver a replacement swivel!So I cannot use the reel anymore and the cart is almost useless...

This is a good quality hose reel that should hold up well and was easy to assemble. It does require more than a screwdriver and pliers so if you don't have hand tools you may want to consider something else. It is not a cheap or bargin reel but I feel worth its price. Much better than those plastic things that pass for hose reels.

175' of medium duty 5/8 hose fills the reel. I will agree that 200' is a bit of a stretch. The other reviewers must not have guided the hose on evenly. Assembly was straight forward. Have used it for 3 seasons and drained it fully before the Colorado winters. Now at the begining of its 4th season I see the seals/O-rings are beginning to leak. An easy fix.

It barely holds 100' feet of Ace's 8-ply hose - not the 200' as claimed. Unless you have superior grip strength, use pnuematic tools to assemble wheels.

I bought this Friday, and already have it boxed up ready for return on Monday. It's a nice reel, but barely held a 100 foot 5/8 hose. Also, there's nothing that can lock the reel in place. If I was going to keep it, I'd put a bungee cord on it while transporting it. If you like thin flimsy hoses, I'm sure it would be OK for you.

The reel appears sturdy however the assembly was difficult. The nuts and bolds used to attach the tires were poor quality. They wouldn't thread properly and it took some muscle to tighten them up. The miss aligned, spot welded nut used to attach the cranking handle, had to be cut off and replaced.

Barely holds the length of hose claimed. Bent reel upon delivery. I fixed it rather than fool with a return. Has worked flawlessly since.
Much easier to rewind than the many poly carts I've owned

This required a cutting tool to cut off the misaligned welded nut on the handle and two wrenches to tighten the nuts on the wheels. Poorly constructed!
