Comments about Weber Smokey Mountain Cooker 22.5in (731001):
I was disappointed with the first step of assembly It was very difficult to complete. The heat shield at the bottom is very flimsy/cheap aluminum and prone to tearing during assembly and or if ever moving the smoker after assembly. Practically everything else is fair to good quality weber product. My old 14 year WSM was overdue for retirement. The thermometer on the current model is a nice upgrade. I'm still disappointed that the legs on the new model are aluminum and easily bendable/breakable. This product will last but you have to treat it very gently. It's kind of like Ikea furniture; don't expect it to work the same after moving...too fragile and the aluminum parts bend easy.

Amazing fall off the bone ribs. (250 degrees x4 hours). Did my Thanksgiving turkey with my smoker last year and it was the best bird (and best looking bird) I ever cooked. Birthdays, Christmas, anniversary, Father's Day or Mother's Day give it to someone you love and just wait for the amazing food to come.

We gave this to our son for Christmas. It was assembled in just a few minutes and fired up with ribs and chicken shortly after. He has the smallest sized smoky mountain which isn't big enough for a family of four and any guests. This size is perfect for big family gatherings. It would easily fit two small turkeys.
He uses a combination of briquettes and wood and has made the best ribs chicken and turkey I've ever had.
Comments about Weber Smokey Mountain Cooker 22.5in (731001):
After owning a cheapo Brinkman and an electric Brinkman smoker I had no way to control the temperature. I had given up on smoking food and thought it was too much effort. I continued to read great reviews about the WSM smoker and thought I would give it a try. So far, I have smoked a few times and am in love with this smoker. It is easy to maintain temperature and actually enjoy smoking now. If you are on the fence go with the 22.5" - It was nice being able to throw racks of ribs on the grate with no worries if it will fit. I love my new smoker and highly recommend. Also, ordering from ACE and picking up at my local store could not be any easier!

Comments about Weber Smokey Mountain Cooker 22.5in (731001):
There is a ton of cooking space on this smoker. I'm planning on using it for a very large party in the near future, and should have no trouble getting four large briskets into it.
Had a little trouble with the temperature my first cook, this is to be expected until the insides are coated in soot/grease to help absorb/radiate heat away instead of reflecting it directly. Using the Minion Method, was able to maintain heat with one load of charcoal through a nine hour cook.
The only downside is a lot of smoke leakage from the fuel door and lid area - there are mods to take care of that.
Past that, all the components were well-packed and looked perfect out of the box. Assembly was quick and easy - it took me less than half an hour to have it ready to cook.
This is a large unit and requires a lot of fuel - consider getting a charcoal ring for a smaller Smokey Mountain to use for smaller jobs to conserve unnecessary fuel.

Comments about Weber Smokey Mountain Cooker 22.5in (731001):
This is my first sojourn into the smoking world. Assembly was easy and components reflect Weber's typically good quality. My first effort was a ham and I was pleased - very tender and a good smoke flavor. Second effort was a pork shoulder on the lower grate and a bone-in turkey breast on the upper grate. The turkey came out great and the shoulder was good but needed more time, even after 11 hours at 250 degrees. I was smoking in cold weather and am still experimenting with fuel management. I will be interested to see how it performs in warmer weather. While the brief instruction paper included some helpful tips, a good manual/recipe booklet would have been very helpful. Weber has usually included these with their grills so I was surprised they didn't with the smoker. Overall, I am pleased and expect to have some fun with this!

I am an avid backyard chef. The WSM 22.5 smoker is the best cooker i have used for home use, well worth the money. I upgraded to the WSM from an off set smoker, great for starting out while perfecting your craft, but the WSM will alow you to take it to the next level. The first day i had it,i cooked 2 12lb hams and 3 full slabs, and still had some room to spare. The result was the most flavorful juicy bbq i have ever done.I have owned the cooker for about 6 months now and everytime i use it the results are very consistant allowing you to really perfect your recipies. Once you fire it up it will hold steady temp for at least 10 to 12 hours,no maintence other than adding wood, i normally use a 16lb bag of kingsford for all day cooking. There are some room for small improvements, but straight out of the box you are good to go, you can knock out some amazing food for your family and freinds, enjoy fellow BBQ finatics.

I love my WSM. Since I bought mine, several friends have bought one (or more) also. I have made a couple of modifications and use some hi tech gadgets but this worked very good right out of the box. I can slow cook a case of Boston butts or a couple of whole briskets without any problem.

Set it and forget it! Follow directions on charcoal amount, wood chunks and time and it pretty much does all the work. No babysitting like a compatible sized offset smoker. Used it three weekends in a row so far with great success, ribs-8 full racks, chickens-Held 8 and turkeys-Held 4. Always cooks evenly, not much difference between top and bottom racks.

I've smoked all the standard smoking meats on my WSM. It is a great unit and will elevate your BBQ skills to the next level. Eliminates the guess work and allows you to focus on seasoning flavor, wood combinations and marinates. The cooking part will be so easy you will almost feel guilty when you get all the praise for the great results. You can pay more and get equal results, but not better!

Comments about Weber Smokey Mountain Cooker 22.5in (731001):
The 22" Smokey Mountain is another great Weber product. It holds the perfect temp for hours and hours of slow cooking on one load of coals. The capacity increase is perfect for larger parties. I had 8 racks of ribs on Weber Rib Racks and 2 pork shoulders with no problem and believe i might have been able to fit a brisket too! If you've been looking into buying a smoker, look no further, this is a well built product and now comes with built in thermometer on lid. I could go on but then there would be nothing for you to add as a review. Happy Smoking!
