We use this both in hanging feeders and for ground feeding. The birds love it, and it is very clean--i.e. minimal nonseed debris in the bag. And we have not found a less expensive source for black oil seed.

My wife and I buy a lot of sunflower seeds, from several different stores, to maintain a number of feeders. This is hands-down the worst of all we've used. The bags have entirely too much inedible filler, consistently leaving the bottom part of the feeder with wood chips that have to be dumped. We seldom have such a problem with other brands. We won't be buying it again.

I'm new to bird feeding, and I bought 2 different kinds of seeds: a Scotts coloful bird blend, and this Ace brand black oil sunflower seed. The birds weren't eating the colorful bird blend I put out for about a week, so I switched to the sunflower seeds and now they can't get enough of it! My bird feeder is constantly occupied with birds now (they take turns). Also when used with the Perky Pet Window Bird Feeder, I find it's the perfect size to deter crows and pigeons from feeding. The feeder is small in size so you mostly get the smaller songbirds and such. I'm so happy with this purchase!
