Comments about Bonide® Systemic House Plant Insect Control (951):
I have a plant care business. I faithfully use this product about every 3 months. It really keeps the pests in control. Keeping them in control is the key. A pest outbreak is much harder to contain. It might take several weeks of continuous inspecting and treating. When I purchase a plant I inspect them for pests. I also look over the nursery to see if it is being controlled for pests. This will give you a good idea if you will be having a problem in the future once you get your plant home. I treat everything that comes out of the nursery as soon as I get it home with this product. The only downfall is that I can't find it except for in one store in my city. I would drive there just to have it though. I use it in my landscape too along with other products. Outdoor care seems to be a bit harder for me to control. I almost always use systemic products.

Comments about Bonide® Systemic House Plant Insect Control (951):
This is a great product for use in the home (office). It controls pesky gnats and white flies. Regular use of the product will prevent the infestation of your house plants. It is easy to use, not a spray that is airborne and it lasts for longer periords of time than spray applications.

Comments about Bonide® Systemic House Plant Insect Control (951):
I have used Bonide for years. When I bring a plant in from the outdoors, buy a new plant from the nursery, or re-pot in new potting soil, I use it to keep the soil gnats, white flies, aphids and spider mites from infesting my plants. I have found it to be very effective in most cases. I also use it on a regular basis to protect my houseplants from these pests.

Comments about Bonide® Systemic House Plant Insect Control (951):
Bonide controls gnats, but follow up is needed every 6-8 weeks. We had bothersome gnats flying all over from about 8 med. to large houseplants. Instructions read to apply the granules to the top of the plant soil, then rough up the top inch of soil (that's where the gnat eggs are and later where the larvae feed). I use a fork to do that. Then water.
I see a reduction in the flying adult gnat population for a few weeks, but they always come back and new plants become infected, too. (Actually lots of big stores' bags of potting soil may already be contaminated!) All the posts about this problem say that moist soil is the problem ( a perfect environment to grow the gnat larvae!) and to avoid the problem, wait to water as long as possible each time. I find that this helps.
Now I've read that you should cover the soil with a 1/2 inch layer of coarse (not fine) sand. This sand will make it impossible for the newly formed adult gnats to make it out of the soil and into the air - they get sliced up trying to make it through the sand! People swear by this method and I'm going to try it, after I do my next watering + Bonide treatment.

Comments about Bonide® Systemic House Plant Insect Control (951):
This product is great!!!! We had fungal gnats in all of our house plants (about 30). They would fly all over the house, especially in the kitchen. It was very annoying. This product was recommended to us and it really worked. Within a day or two, they were significantly reduced. Within about 5 days, they were completely gone. It's been a few weeks now and they haven't returned. It says to use the product every 8 weeks, but I'm hoping that the gnats won't return. I highly recommend this product. It's very eary to use.
